Really? No thread yet? I know there are a bunch of you.

What did we all think?

I was pleasantly shocked at how much I like it. I thought I’d be picking it apart.

Nice job Richie Cunningham.

looking at reviews on rotten tomatoes. its crazy how many people on that site never review these big budget movies and then rip them.

i think there is too much residuel for a few things people didnt like in the last one and not enough for what this movie does on its own.

i mean some of the reviews said it spent time on connecting some dots on the chars and didnt think it should have, when that is really why this movie was created.

I (surprisingly) liked it a lot more than I thought I would. The trailers gave me very low expectations and the fact that these films are now becoming political in America had me dreading it but I found it entertaining and I really enjoyed it.

Especially Glover as Lando.

Star wars political? Tell me how.

ok, we're on the same side of the fence. so wasn't trying to stoke anything.

It's cool. In a nutshell its SJW vs. Alt right and it is as tiresome as you would expect.

Huge Star Wars fan. Saw a 12:15 PM (lunchtime, not midnight) matinee, and could barely stay awake.

Too little Han and Lando, waaaay too much Woody Harrelson (is he in every movie franchise these days??) and Paul Bettany, who I like.

The Last Jedi was a disappointment for how many plot lines the director threw away (was Snope Darth Plagius, who were Rey's parents, what about the young apprentices' revolt against Luke, etc.), and now this?

It hasn't taken Disney long to turn Star Wars into just another empty money grab of a franchise.

In 1983, when Vader killed the Emperor, you didn’t know who he was either, and his back story. Why does it now bother so many?

Because the first movie set it up! They showed Snope with a big old gash in his forehead, like he was the Sith Lord who had apprenticed Palpatine. They hit you over the head with it in the first reboot, and then the director of the 2nd movie threw it away.

Same thing with Max Von Sydow in a 10 second blip in The Force Awakens (he is with Rey when her parents fly off). Then nothing.

Rey obviously has mad Force in her and in The Force Awakens, Luke's light saber is communicating its past to her - and again, The Last Jedi did nothing with this huge plot point from the immediately prior movie.

Ditto the revolt by the padawans led by Kylo Ren againast Luke - that's also very prominent in that "dream sequence"/foreshadowing when Rey grabs the light saber - then nothing more about it in the next movie. Why did Han and Leia's son turn against his uncle and chase him into hiding? How did it go down? THROWN AWAY.

These plot points trace over 9 movies - except in movie 8, the new director says "eh, I don't really like all this plot stuff that they have laid out for me - screw it. Rey, you're nobody special."

Instead of these things that actual Star Wars fans were looking for in The Last Jedi, we got some guy making a completely different movie from the one that immediately preceded it. We got that endless (and pointless) scene where they destroy the casino looking for some guy, they don't catch him, and that guy is never mentioned again. Garbage filler scene of special effects absent any relevant plot.

Why does everyone think Rey’s parents story is over???

Just because Ren said it’s so??

I don’t believe it.

Han Solo was worth the time and $$ spent too.

Well, this last movie is going to have to be about 3 hours long to address all the stuff they failed to address in the last movie, plus whatever else they may surprise us with.

Wait Von Sydow was there when Rey got left?? I don’t remember seeing that! Is that for real?

As for Solo: I did enjoy it but not nearly as much as Rogue One. It was, for lack of a better term, kind of pointless but there wasn’t anything I hated about it. I thought the mud trooper battle part was pretty awesome. Also I thought the kid did a really good job as Han and he even resembled him pretty strongly in several scenes.

I share your disappointment with how they seemingly dropped so much of what Force Awakens started up, but hopefully there is a bigger picture that brings all that into focus. I would rank Force Awakens as my favorite movie in the series and was really looking forward to exploring more of its loose ends but I’m encouraged that Abrams is back for 9.

there are the die hards who love everything that comes out.. then there are the die hards who nit pick every scene and then there are the people who just enjoy movies. the jedi seemed to have ticked off the 2nd group, this one as well.

i love it when something ties together in such a complex story line, but i dont kill the movie when it doesnt.

For my money .. he wasn't Han. He did not look like him or even try to pick up his speech patterns or mannerisms. Glover as Lando on the other hand I totally bought. Dude killed it.

I still really enjoyed the moved despite my issue with actor.

It was Von Sydow doing the voice over as the camera showed Rey crying as the spaceship flew off, telling her not to cry.

I also really liked Rogue One and thought it was very god, and fit well as "connecting tissue" between the prequels and the original trilogy.

Yes, I agree about Solo. I didn't "hate it", but I just couldn't connect to the action, and Woody was a distraction for me, to be honest. It would have been better to cast a no-name actor in that role.

It’s Unkar Plutt saying, “Quiet Girl” not Max Von Sydow.

Thank You!!!

I thought so, but didn’t have the time to look it up to dispute.

We don’t know who Rey’s parents are.

Only those weak with the Force think otherwise.

Saw it last night. I liked it. Tons of references to the broader SW universe. I’d like to see it again to pick up on all the things I missed.

Anyone have any thoughts why the movie isn’t getting much cred at the box office? Only thing I could think of was that people were so familiar with Harrison Ford’s HS that they just weren’t intrigued by a prequel without him. That, and the production at points got a bunch of bad press.

Audience has to be fatigued.

dont know why star wars fans would be fatigued though.. the casual fan perhaps. everyone i know who has seen it enjoyed it.
