would you go to Football Game In September if there is no vaccine ?

For me I have missed 5 home games in 21 years and if I have to hesitate to answer then that means I would not attend. I’m not scared for myself, And I even think it’s getting to the point where we have to live our lives a little, but with 4 young kids and my parent creeping up on 60 just not worth it for a football game.

If I feel safe, I will go.

What would make me feel safe?

Honestly, the way things are right now, with low rates of infection in Onondaga County, if I am wearing a mask, I feel safe. I think I would feel safer at the game than at the tailgate, where you have to take your mask off to eat or drink.

Where I sit, there are rarely others close by. There would be changes. No more high fiving, no more head butts, no more crowd surfing. I could survive those.

Currently cautiously optimistic.

No

Not for myself but for people I interact with over the subsequent two weeks.

I did think about the relatively small numbers in Onondaga county, but people travel to the game, and I also would have to take in consideration what team is coming here and where the fans are coming from if there was a “hot spot” near that team. If we are playing FSU and Tallahassee has a big increase for example I’m not sure I’d feel comfortable. Who knows, I really just want football and basketball to return although I am a pessimist about it and think we don’t have a football season.

I would say there's about a 1% chance I'll be attending any football games this fall. Time will tell.

If it was just me making the decision I would go.. Given that SU is doing random testing and they have things in place to help keep hands clean.. Might drag some wipes in with me and try to limit, in dome food and bathroom trips.

But I have a feeling that right now the decision is not mine to make as I am not even allowed in a grocery store now.

It will also be interesting to see how that handle seating and distancing. As Tom said, the older i get the less often i want to jump down 5 rows to find someone to high 5..

Maybe we end up with only season ticket holders in the building too.. That would really help spacing ability but probably piss off some people. As things are today it would have to be at a min every other row seating.

Keep in mind people throughout the state (even downstate) will be attending not just people from Onondaga County.

Depends on what everything looks like in 4 months. Right now, I'm still in the eye of the hurricane here in Jersey.
SUFaninNJ - As someone in the midst of it in NJ, what is your take on the possibility of the Jersey Shore opening up for the summer? We usually go to LBI in late June. I'm choosing to be cautiously optimistic about going to a rental single family home where all we do is cook in the house and hang on the beach in a less populated area. My husband says no way we'll be able to go. Just curious what your take is.

The further south you go, the fewer cases/deaths have been reported. I'd say it's touch and go. I've seen a couple bars/restaurants on the Shore already saying they're closed. Murphy is taking a very slow and cautious approach which some appreciate while others don't. I guess cautiously optimistic would be a solid way to look at things for now.

No. I have diabetes and am being really careful about what and where I go. the killer for me right now is casino poker tournaments. I love them and won back to back right before this thing closed everything down. And right before the bigger money tournaments. But right now, I won't be playing at the casino either.

I get it. But you did only mention the infection rate in Onondaga County.
If I go, I will not be particularly worried about the infection rate in Florida, NYC or other areas. For most games, there will be a handful of people within 6 feet of me at any time during the game. They are almost all locals and if the local scene is good, that is good enough for me.

Now, my wife might not be down with this plan. Haven't discussed it yet. Haven't even thought about tailgating and the risks there. That seems more dangerous to me. I am sure the Fine Lot will make some changes to try and make things safer. For now, I will reserve judgement on if I feel okay tailgating.

I suspect the crowds for the Fine Lot will be greatly reduced this season. Assuming there is a season.

I am of the opinion we will have greatly enhanced testing by mid summer that wont require nearly the same chemical makeups of the ones now. the and saliva tests are getting pretty fast and will scale up fast.

Even then eating will be a pain in public for awhile. But if the new cell phone 60sec test becomes a thing most restaurants could offer it at the door and make people feel much safer and that may be what it comes down too.. Would people add a $1-5 to the bill to eat/drink in public.. Its just a new version of a cover charge.

could they make people wash their hands on the way in, do we have some misting to spray over clothes, lots of things being worked on.

will restaurants come to this too? portion off the table.. people get to eat out but not really interact?

Wear a mask and gloves
Take gloves off to use your phone if you have to and that’s about it .How else can you get it ? Right now out of a population of 330,000,000 not even a half of one percent got the virus and out of that half of 1% 7% have died of half of 1% the odds are extremely low to get it and die from it . Of course if you or someone you know is in that category it’s horrible but with mask and gloves that low percentage should drop a ton more so I would definitely go to anything.
I would feel more uncomfortable at a restaurant or bar without a mask than anything else . We have slowed this down , we are educated how to protect ourselves it’s time to get back to work . 1.25 million people a year die from car accidents we don’t stop driving

I saw the Cape May County proposal today which is asking for a partial open June 1, with a larger opening by June 15.

My week in Cape May starts July 4, so please please please get this approved.

What stage are we at with this virus? If it is the beginning, as i suspect, those numbers are meaningless. Not long ago, we didn't have any deaths. We are over 70,000 now. What do you think it will be by Sept.? We have done very little for mediation. We are not all that close to a vaccine. I want to go to games as much as anyone. But it in my opinion, is too soon to start talking as if the numbers are small.
