Picked them outrightIf he picked against the spread then sure why not. But if he picked them to win outright he is more of a moron that I thought.
2 years ago we got a lot of talk about Vermont as a 16 possibly beating us.
Have any other 1 seeds ever had people pick against them? I can't think of any off hand.
Not to support this Jackass in anyway, but this is the **** you get stuck with when your the first 2 seed to lose to a 15 and people still remember the Vermont debacle. All that beign said, we would have to play by far our worst game of the year with everyone absolutely struggling and Ashville would have to play there best game of the last Decade to win.
Truthfully the 1 vs 16 game has always made me nervous as a Cuse fan but with this years team and comig off a loss how could this team look past anyone or think they just need to show up?
People had the same concerns in 2010 and we were up 30 on Vermont in the second half before JB clearned his bench. A #16 seed will not beat a #16 seed ever. Plain and simple. There have been scares (I reemmber when Albany was up double digits on Uconn midway through the second half a few years ago before Uconn steamrolled them) but the talent gap is huge.
People should have no concerns Thursday whatsoever. We have mismatches all over the floor.

Great I wasn't worried before.
Anyway this comes with the territory when you're the first #2 to lose to a 15. I will say it still gets me that the media considers 2005 to be some legendary upset. Vermont over Syracuse wasn't even the biggest upset THAT DAY.
The pundits and the national audience want a 16 to beat a 1 so bad so they latch onto one that they think will happen. What they should be paying attention to is a couple of potential 2-15 upsets. Detroit vs. Kansas and Duke vs. Lehigh. I will guarantee that one of those teams will be on the ropes and wil have to pull it out in the final 5 minutes. Mark my words.THIS is exactly why i'm not concerned about Asheville. We just lost a game. Nothing like that to get the focus back and go out and kick some arse.
Vermont was mis-seeded and should have been an 11 seed that year. They had a 21 RPI that year (people can go look it up if they dont believe me) and were given a 13 seed. Why they were bumped to a 13 I have no idea. That team had played in the NCAA's before and were all upperclassmen. That gme was basically a 5-12 or a 5-11 game as opposed to a 4-13. People don't realize this. Throw them playing in freaking Worcester besides. Not excusing the loss but that was the best 13 seed in NCAA history.

Absolutely. We really should have been a 5.
I'm still waiting for Manhattan to beat us in 2003 like Mike Greenburg predicted.
Every projection I saw was us as a 3-4 seed.
