We’ve bene discussing the difficulty of recruiting freshmen in hopes that they will achieve their potential and help Syracuse win games and championships while they are here. I decided to look at our recruiting classes since we joined the ACC to see how long the players involved stayed here. I’ll limit myself to players who came here as freshmen.

Tyler Roberson – played through senior year
Tyler Ennis – left after freshman year
BJ Johnson – left after sophomore year
Ron Patterson – left after sophomore year
2014-15

Kaleb Joseph – left after sophomore year
Chinoso Obokoh – left after junior year (academically ineligible for freshman season)

How many players left for the NBA / G League / Europe?

How many players transferred because they didn't like playing for JB?

How many players transferred down a level to get more playing time?

How many players transferred because Mommy told them to?

Some programs evolve some fall by the wayside

Houston has the no 1 team with no transfers and mostly juniors and under.
Very impressive how the team that beat us just reloaded internally. They even have a new carbon copy Jarreau.

I have always loved Sampson though his OU and IU teams were great. Got punished to the extreme for doing what everyone does.

Their high scorer is senior Marcus Sasser. Well known name averaging over 18 points per game. They have only 2 freshman on the team, one who played 24 minutes a game and was a top 5 star recruit, Jarace Walker. They have 2 transfers, a center who rarely plays and an experienced incoming senior who played at Louisiana, then Texas Tech that it appears they are redshirting. Sorry, I looked it up since I was pretty positive that their star, Sasser was a senior.

I'm not sure that matters if the strategy for success is to develop talent over time.

My question would be how we compare to our peers.
