It was a great year for the East. Navy was 9-1 and ranked #2, Pitt was 9-1 and ranked #3. Syracuse was 8-2 and #12. Penn State was 7-3 and #15. Army was unranked by 7-3, ditto Boston College who was 6-3. Too bad we weren't a conference.
Get a load of Billy Hunter, who later became head of the NBA player's union collapsing after a long TD run after the 11 minute mark. Wally Mahle wasn't exactly Kyle McCord at 12:50. Pete Liske was a little closer to Kyle: Penn State might have won this one if his receivers could have held onto the ball!
