Lville repeatedly passed inside to an open guy at the baseline.
Frustrating how often they scored off that pass.
Confident that board tacticians can describe why that happened repeatedly?
THX

The late game press up on the guards was horrific.

but honestly those kind of plays get made if the back line is an inch taller and a half step quicker. The anticipation was there but weren’tquick enough to react

So Lville was able to make that pass b/c the D wasn't quick enough tonight?
Seriously, I'm trying to understand why a team can feast on SU's D using that strategy in one game.
Lville made it look so EZ, would assume most teams could successfully attack the SU D with that strategy.
Don't recall any recent games where SU's D was repeatedly beat with that baseline pass strategy.

New 3 point line and everybody thinking they can be the next Steph Curry has extended the zone and opened up more passing lanes and open spaces in the zone. Along with our forwards playing further up the court in an effort to make up for our slow gurads. The forwards also dont seem to be retreating to the back line once a guard does make it over to defend, leaving the center to patrol the high post, low post and the corners.

We push our forwards up making it almost a 4-1 zone. The baseline is a weak area when we do that.

THX for replies.
Before the game out of hand, Lville did hit 3's at crucial times when SU was closing the gap.
And Lville was 10/24 on 3's, so understand pushing up strategy on D tonight.
Most effective zone requires long guards with fast feet -sometimes a liability this season.

Buddy and Joe can't cover enough ground up top so the forwards have to come too far up and are not quick enough to rotate back. I personally think we have to stop guarding the man at the FT line. Joe cheated down last night on instinct and left McMahon wide open for a 3. One of the many looks we let him step right into by the way.
