Syracuse football is using Beam, a mobile robot created by the Silicon Valley-based company Suitable Technologies, to aid the staff in recruiting and other day-to-day operations.

Large companies outside the realm of college football use the product. Even the White House has used it.

But it's still relatively new in college athletics. Stanford is the only other school in the country using this exact model, according to the SU staff...

So would this count against the NCAA limit when the new rules apply whatever they be;)

Rutgers would have their's stolen by a ucon player the first night they had it

Nobody would steal Rutgers' robot.

if you want to have someone tag along with the robot why not just use a go pro or ipad and save the money?

You know, Ed Snowden is using one of those to "talk" to people at conferences and such in the US and Europe. We are pretty cutting edge!

Was thinking the same. Not sure this is the groundbreaking thing people think it is. Stanford has one because they've got more money than sense. If someone has to accompany it, just give them a ipad and turn on the camera.

pfft, it's not rocket science.

Yes, it's basically Facetime on top of a Segway that you can use by remote control. So, no Silicon Valley won't be impressed.

Still pretty freaking cool that we can offer virtual tours this way to prospects. It's nice to be early on the curve.

I'd rather invest that money into buying recruits.

segways are ridiculous and pointless. but if you ever have a chance to go on a segway tour on your honeymoon only to discover at the bar halfway through the tour that segway pete the tour guide is a raging alcoholic who will buy pitcher after pitcher before you get back on the segway and go back over a big bridge with a foggy head and terror in your veins, do it
