If someone just got back from spending a year in a jungle hut in the Amazon, they would laugh at such a typo

Ha...very nice. I agree!

I was kinda wonka with SU -21 1/2 over PC... until the end of the game... so we win by 23. How do they do it!!
Pitt is really short benched now and playing at the Dome. Learning quickly never question the oddsmakers.
My oh my... Rutgers -2 v. ND; Marquette -4 v. Louisville; and (drum roll), Kansas -7 v. Baylor.

Wow I'd take Baylor to win outright guess Vagas doesn't think they are legit.

And I would take Syracuse even at -15.5

I guess Vegas doesn't think Baylor will be able to win in the Phog.

Pretty sure Vegas doesn't care one way or the other, it's the betting public that either doesn't think Baylor is legit or doesn't think they can win at Kansas.

Exactly. Not sure why this is so hard for so many to understand.

Vegas sets the line hoping to attract equal action on both sides, then moves the line accordingly so as to accomplish that.

Just like in horses ... the money moves the odds up or down. But still Vegas has to come up with an opening line. That's the amazing part that they can be so close ... most of the time with the early spread.

Who said anything about Vegas "caring"? The only thing they care about is consistently making their 10% on the betting lines.

SkanSU said it best, the sportsbooks have to come up with a line that reflects public perception. The oddsmakers think the "public" (aka, the bettors in the casinos placing bets at the window) doesn't think Baylor will win at Kansas, so they give them 7 points to even the bets. Bottom line though, the oddsmakers have to start somewhere. I would have thought Baylor +3 or +3.5 would reflect the public perception, but apparently the oddsmakers had different info.

The oddsmakers also have to protect against massive money moving on one team (Baylor in this case), and that team going out and winning (with or without the points), thereby causing massive losses to the casino.

If you see a massive movement in the line by tip off tomorrow, Vegas will have gotten their opening line wrong.

Stupid line. That's a gimme. Take the points. This is a one possession game late.

Somebody agrees with you. HUGE money flow on Pitt in last few hours. Down to -13 almost everywhere

I locked Pitt in at -15 yesterday.. don't feel good about betting against the Cuse here...but that is just too many points for a team and coach that has owned us for a while now. I still hope we win by 45. I'd gladly donate the money.

That isnt always true. There are plenty of times you see 90% on 1 side and the line never changes.

Vegas gambles too.

Pitt with the points for sure. Maybe not a one possession game down the stretch, but likely no more than a couple threes...especially if they protect the ball and not give us all them gimme buckets...

Yeah, Vegas frequently wants to just get their 10%, but there are definitely times when they take a side in a game.

Pomeory has Kansas -8 tonight. Seems a little high, but Kansas is very good, and the Phog is a tough place to play. (Also, Pomeroy, and I'm assuming whatever system the various casinos use, have Kansas rated higher than Baylor).

13 - 3.

Pitts record against Cuse in the last 16 meetings.

5 - 0.

Pitts record in the dome over the past 5 meetings.

2004.

Last regular season win for Syracuse in the series.

MANY.

Objects broken and/or yelled at in my house during Pitt games over the past 10 years.

If we are up 145 - 30 at the under 4:00 timeout, I will be pacing. I don't care who is on the court for either team or where the game is played, until I see Boeheim beat Dixon with regularity, I see absolutely no reason to think SU has any shot at all in this game. I sure as hell wouldn't bet Syracuse -13!!

This is the exact reason as to why I don't understand some of the board's overconfidence. And yes, I'm aware that this Pitt team is as soft as it's been since Howland brought them to relevance in 2001. But to me, sometimes you just need to throw the records out. They are going to try to drag this game into the mud, limit our transition, and have Gibbs hit 7 3s.

This team needs to get over this mental hurdle tonight. Its clear by the comments after the Providence game that this team wants to exorcise the demons of the last 6 years.

We know that being up 75-64 at the under-4:00 timeout hasn't always been enough.

Karl Hess is the common thread in a lot of these Pittsburgh disasters, and we've seen in recent weeks that he's still in top form.

There's a ton of confidence (or bluster) on this board, but I'm with the half-dozen who're prepared to see foul trouble for Fab and rampant clutch-and-grab by Pittsburgh. If this isn't the toughest of our first 20 games, color me surprised.

This will be over very fast. It will be a blow out of epic proportions. Like 35 to 40 points. Yeah I said it.

Just re-read the summary of that game. I remembered blowing a big lead but didn't remember that we actually led by 11 with three minutes left. No wonder I was so angry. One other thing I had somehow forgotten - Karl Hess officiated that night. And our Pitt loss last year. And our Pitt loss the year before that. 3 out of the last 4 years? How does that happen?

I think we need the Brady Bunch tiki and a lock of Paul Harris' hair to reverse the curse.
