SU plane crash? 80s?

A number of SU students were on the plane that blew up over Lockerbie, Scotland in the 80s.

I believe Khadafi was involved in that one.

All of the victims names are etched on a memorial in the front of the Hall of Languages. It's very well done, and a pretty emotional tribute for as simple as it is, if you've ever seen it.

I was a high school townie at the time. Didn't sleep for days.

I think i was a junior, but home for the holiday. Watched every minute of the coverage. A bad mix of sadness and anger.

Happened on my birthday. Worst Christmas season I can remember in Syracuse. Very depressing time.

My high school in NJ lost a student (non-SU) on the flight.

I remember listening to Logan and Barlow call the C.W. Post game that night.

I was in college and knew one of the kids and he too was a non-SU student who was in that program. Tough times indeed. One of the nicest kids I ever knew too. Nobody deserved it and my friend's early death was one of the greatest tragedies that has ever hit so close to home.

You can kneel down and talk on one side and hear it on the other.

Campus also hangs ribbons from the quad trees on the anniversary

Nice. Was just reading about the similar whisper columns at Grand Central.

Finally, justice was served upon Khaddafi...

I was in college at the time, & I can remember thinking, just as I heard the news, Muslim terrorists had to be involved in this.

They've been up for a couple weeks. The school also puts a poster-sized photo and biography of each of the dead students in the lobby of an academic building.

I guess some of us older posters forget that not everyone knows about stuff like this.

I remember having a lacrosse poster that following season that I believe paid tribute to the victims. Wish I still had that.
