UConn head coach Geno Auriemma: "We've got one last obstacle here. The hardest part is the anticipation and waiting."

Geno: "We're trying to treat as it's for this particular team" (when asked about winning the national title the last 3 years)

Geno Auriemma said he takes some satisfaction in knowing his dynasty has promoted WNBA growth.

Auriemma: "It's unrealistic to think that there's going to be a different set of people at the Final Four every year."

He said that players leaving for the NBA is the reason for parity in men's college basketball.

Auriemma: "We need more good players coming out of high school. And they need to be coached better."

Auriemma: "You're always going to have a dominant or two dominant teams ... that you need to have."

Auriemma said it's odd that Syracuse is shooting well. He said during the regular season "they took a lot and they missed a lot."

Auriemma on Syracuse: "Right now those guys are on a roll and they're shooting it with a lot of confidence."

Geno Auriemma said he hopes Breanna Stewart has more national championships than fouls tomorrow night.

"It just doesn't happen that way." - Auriemma on his seniors potentially going 4-for-4 in national championship games

Auriemma: "Stewie pretends like she's nice and humble and rescues cats from trees ... she's not built like a great player."

"Everything about (Breanna Stewart) is deceptive." - Auriemma
Auriemma says women's basketball has a hard time being great in big cities

Auriemma thinks the men's basketball attendance at Syracuse can spill into women's attendance. "No question about it."

The condition is that Syracuse is a contender each year like the men. "I'm just glad it didn't happen five years ago," Auriemma added.

We basically won the championship, because every team was playing for 2nd place!

Yup pretty much. They should just hand over the trophy to the runner ups! Women's basketball needs to do something about this gap in talent. It's ridiculous. I love how ESPN says the way to fix it's is recruit better players. Other teams can't because they all go to UCONN. Then they say... well win and you'd get better players but other teams can't because UCONN has all the best. It's a vicious cycle in women's basketball that needs to be stopped.

This is crazy. UCONN gets really good players, but they don't get *all* of the really good players. No single team could. Of the 24 McDonald's All Americans this year for instance, exactly one of them has committed to UCONN -vs- three to Maryland, and two each to Notre Dame, Baylor and Standord. UCONN obviously does a great job with recruiting but their classes are not head and shoulders above the other top four or five programs. They win because of Geno and his staff.

And just out of curiosity, lets pretend that the imbalance really were just because all of the good players go to UCONN. What would you suggest be done about it?
