Syracuse/Pitt Preview

Good writeup. I wondered before the season started why everyone picked Pitt to finish top 2 or 3 in the BE. They lost Wanamaker, Gilbert Brown and McGhee, which accounted for about 30 pts and 18 rebounds per game, plus they were probably their 3 best defenders. And Pitt still started well, until losing Woodall.

They're a shell of last year, maybe not winless bad, but at best middle of the pack in the BE.

Thanks for the write-up. The only item I disagree with is "The Orange must take advantage of their length and win the rebounding margin to prevent an upset." If SU wins the turnover battle decisively, the rebounding margin would only be one factor in that overall mix of defensive stops.

Also, if SU can make Pitt pay for their sending guards to rebound with transition baskets on the ones SU does grab, the difference will be even less of a factor.

I could easily see SU losing the rebounding margin, yet winning comfortably. I think it has happened several times this year.

After reading your comments and doing some thinking, I tend to agree with your points. I've modified that key. I still have rebounding as a key to the game, but don't say Syracuse needs to win it in order to win the game. See what you think.

I like it. I think if SU can neutralize Pitt's strength in rebounding, almost everything else tilts in favor of SU. I hope it plays out like that.

I tend to agree with you. And I really want to beat Pitt. Regardless of the 20-0 thing, I'm sick of losing to them.
