It's great to see CJ getting the kind of recognition he deserves.

On another note, it's surprising that Pete Thamel doesn't know the difference between "complimentary" and "complementary."

Funny.

People raved about Thamel as a New York Times writer in recent years. I remembered him as a somewhat mediocre Sub-Standard writer in the late-'90s and decided that he, like a lot of writers, is probably as good as his copy desk.

Now that he's made the step down from the Times to Sports Illustrated, yeah, I think it's fair to say that editing makes a big difference.

Oy. Where have all the good writers gone?

I like what he said about how Fair is defined by what he doesn't do as much as what he does. I really think that sums up CJ Fair.
