Let's do a draft of 4 conferences with 18 teams. I think 18 will show us the likely expansion candidates.
Your conference should be: Geographically sensible (Stanford and Duke in the same conference would be a weakness...Duke and Vandy would be a strength), the closer schools are in academic profile the better, Market Size, Fan Bases, Facilities, Tradition, Intangibles (like Cuse delivers Sports Media types, Oregon and Nike, etc...) all count
I need 4 conferences (2 posters per team) I'd like to do it next week over two evenings.
Bring me your team with two names and nights available next week. Draft would run from 8ish-10ishpm EDT over two nights.
Zipper Format decided by my pulling team order from a well worn Cuse cap.
First Four Teams identified will go...unless the 5th or 6th team is more available to work in the other teams' evening schedule.
Each conference can initiate one straight up trade with another conference. So in reality your conference could be involved in more than one trade. The conference proposing uses their Willy Wonka Gold Ticket. (yes...you can cheat via PM...if you have UNC or UK you get away with it...if you have Cuse or SMU the commissioner might penalize you)
One extra thing to think about: you can invite schools that do not play 1A Football (like Georgetown, Nova, etc...) but do so at your own peril.
Finally each team will explain their strengths
A vote will follow among the board to decide the winning team (conference)
I also need a backup commissioner to be available.
