Slashing towards the hoop
With the confidence of a lion

He was born in a foreign land
Known as the great white north
That’s full of syrup and hockey
Where compliments flow back and forth

And then one day he made his way
Way down to the garden state
To lead his team to glory
Instead of accepting their fate

Then word spread far and wide
About this heady guard
And his penchant for scoring
And assists, his calling card

He could have picked any school
That offered him a spot
But landed on mighty Syracuse
A proud and orange lot

As just a lowly freshman
The lights were thought too bright
And the crowds thought to rowdy
For his play to be alright

Yet up he stepped from day one
To lead his impressive team
And while he didn’t show much emotion
