- Watching that game was like watching Mike Tyson knock out an opponent in the first round but the opponent is then required to come out for the second round…and then the third…and then the fourth…

- We were basically playing an NBA team. Their entire line-up might get drafted. Our entire lineup probably not, (Buddy?) Every one of their players looked bigger and stronger than his counter-part on Syracuse. Basically Syracuse vs. Duke in basketball has become Syracuse vs. Clemson in football. It’s not a rivalry if you can’t compete.

- And yet, other teams in the ACC have competed with Duke.
Both teams played Lafayette at home. We won by 34. They won by 33.
They lost to U of Miami by 2 at home. We lost to them by 1 on the road.
They beat Wake by 2 at home and by 12 on the road. We lost to Wake by 3 in OT on the road and crushed them by 22 here.
They lost by 1 at Florida State. We won by 3 there.
They beat Clemson by 2 at home. We beat them by 13 here.
They beat Louisville by 9 on the road. We beat them by 23 here.
They lost to Virginia by 1 at home and beat them by 4 on the road. We lost to the Cavs here by 5.
They beat BC by 11 in Boston. We beat them by 9 there and by 20 in the Dome.
Those results suggest that we should have bene able to compete with Duke. Obviously match-ups, injuries and how the teams played on a given night had impacted this a lot. We can’t with their big men inside. We can’t cover their shooters on the outside. Having a great shot-blocker like mark Williams takes Jimmy Boeheim out of the game. Losing Jesse Edwards obviously hurts us but they beat us by 20 when we had him. We’re just not built to beat this team.

- Our starting front line of Cole Swider, Frank Anselem and Jimmy Boeheim had a combined 0 net points. ZERO. Mark Williams had 38NP all by himself.

- We scored 4 more two point baskets and 3 less free throws. They made 10 more three pointers. Most of them were wide open thanks to Duke’s excellent passing and the fact that we have to move in to guard their big guys. But just because your three pointer is open you don’t automatically make it. Unless you are Duke in the first half, when they made 10 of them. That’s what built up the big lead.

- Symir Torrance went down heavily under the basket and had to be helped off the court while a bloody cloth was applied to his head. No foul was called. Incidental contact can be deadly.

- Buddy Boeheim attempted 21 shots and never got to the line. It was the sixth time that ahs happened this year. He’s attempted 94 shots in those games.

- A continuing problem that isn’t going to go away is that without Jesse in there as a scoring threat, the other teams are playing 5 on 4 against our shooters so it’s hard for them to have good shooting nights, even if they find other ways to score their points.

There is simply not a chance this has ever happened in SU history. Not even close. Statistically, basically impossible.
