Guys, you are killing yourselves trying to analyze every word or message. I don't know Jake from Adam nor Bees from Eve. I dont have any connnection with the mods on this site and have no reason to question what certain people have posted given what I have heard. I have my own rock solid sources (and no they are not psst psst guys.) and while everyone wants every little detail and claim people are being cryptic are just wrong. I have not posted anything on this topic because the information I received is spot on to what Jake and others have posted so why be redundant.

Like Matt Park said in a tweet this morning, it's not about being cryptic, it is about respect. Melo is ineligible, we all know that. SU made an appeal to the NCAA Tuesday which was denied. They are making another appeal today (may have already happened). Based on the past appeal, they don't feel too confident in this one either. But if it were accepted, then Melo could possibly play tomorrow, who knows. But if this one is denied, there is a 3rd option they will pursue which does include getting some stuff done. So yea, it did involve some decisions (the appeals), but one was denied and the other isn't likely either. So no, JB didn't lie because some things have to now get done if you assume today's appeal won't fly either. Just know that in the end this could (emphasis could) all come to a positive conclusion and barring a good result today, the target would be the Georgetown game although that isn't 100% either.

We are all fans and want to know what exactly happened I get that. However in this situation just sit back, get some ideas from the favorite beer thread, crack one open and wait until the process plays out.

What does he have to get done? School work?
you don't have to know how the sausage is getting made, and it is a violation for those details to be made public anyway. The details above are the essential ones for the fans.

Marsh is solid on this

The question then is this: Confidence has taken a big uptick since the denied appeal and it appears the appeal today is simply a formality which is expected to be rejected. So is this Option C a new idea that somehow was just developed and that has a high probability of gaining success?

In other words, given what has been said - why did confidence go up?

The only thing I can think is that Option C is right; the idea of making up work or whatever it is wasn't part of the equation before, but now it is?

What is going to take a little time is getting the right personnel in place. They did just finish a raid in Somalia a few days ago and need a couple of days to decompress and be debriefed before they will be in a position to act on the Melo situation. Patience young padawan.

"Execute Option C... I said DO IT!!"

Would Cuse have to petition the NCAA again after complying with the 3rd option?

Sounds like the appeal process is one that results in immediate gratification if successful, but likelihood of success is dim.

The complete more work angle may circumvent the need for an appeal, but the work needs to be done and will take some time to be completed.

So the appeal process is, dare I say, more appealing because we may have Melo back more quickly, but given its dim prospects people seem to be more focused on the complete the work angle.

Is it possible that a class that Melo had previously taken and received credit for was disallowed for some reason and the appeal is about those credits. The complete more work angle is an angle that would allow him to complete substitute but wholly unrelated credits in order to get himself eligible making the credits he is appealing unnecessary?????

Great post, Marsh.

Which is why posting percentages is nothing more than chasing rainbows--the truth is, it all comes down to the outcome of the appeal, and there is no way to know what that will be at this time. Even with things trending more positive than a few days ago, there is still a chance that things might not work out in our favor.

The unfortunate part of your post is the vision of Jake and Bees in a garden with an apple. Bite the d@mn apple Bees so you 2 get some clothes on! Please!

So when's he coming back? And what exactly did he do?

My guess is that Option C involves a level of Caliparian or Calhounian shenanigans that SU normally tries to avoid, but this year the team is a title contender so the athletic department doesn't mind getting its hands a little dirtier.

not even close . . . remember, the program is under a microscope right now, with national reporters on the scene due to the Fine Mess. JB and the AD are going to cross ever T and dot every i on this one.

No way no how. We're just gonna go Calipari on a situation that we just went to the NCAA on and think they wouldn't notice?

When I said Caliparian and Calhounian, my point was that SU is looking for some loopholes in academic regulations they normally wouldn't utilize. Like I said, it's just a guess.

That sounds more about illegal things or benefits versus an academic situation.

True, but that's cut and dried. You don't need appeals of staff decisions, more work submitted, etc...
This situation smells like improperly sumitted academic work during the first semester, that pulled Fab below his minimum required credit hours (he has to be a full-time student to be eligible).

Has it even been confirmed that his absence even has anything to do with school work done (or not done) since he's been at SU?

Make Fab a walk-on. Problem solved.
