I really liked:
Buck Privates
High Sierra
How Green Was My Valley
Lady Be Good
The Maltese Falcon
Meet John Doe
The Sea Wolf
Sergeant York
Sullivan's Travels
The Strawberry Blonde
They Died with Their Boots On

But the Steve goes to: Citizen Kane

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (Tracy and Bergman) is another great one from this year. And the Maltese Falcon is maybe my favorite noir film, right up there with Double Indemnity a couple years later. One of Bogart's best roles. (And Sidney Greenstreet's, too.)

Mr. and Mrs. Smith was a very funny movie (sharing only a name with the 2005 "re-make"). The Lady Eve is funny in a similar vein. Suspicion is yet another Hitchcock movie that I enjoyed, though not one of his very best in my opinion.

But, yeah, no argument with your favorite film. Could be the best of all.

I've never seen How Green Is My Valley; I only know it as the answer to a trivia question about the oddest Oscar decisions of all time.

Citizen Kane is awesome.. having seen it on the large screen the technical innovations in that movie were great
Maltese Falcon

Sergeant York, Another one I have to stop and watch ever time
High Seirra
road to zanzibar
Dumbo
Buck Provates
How Green was my Valley? Is that the Burl Ives one?
