Was quite flawed.

Watching Bell fail to chase down a basic & crucial rebound that bounced all the way out to him. Watching him, down 4, & scoring on like a 5'10 player proceed to stare him down like Angel Reese stalking Caitlin Clark & doing the 'too small' gesture, is just so embarrassing. Yeah, he shot his way to 18 points, but so much yapping & lack of hustle, until the very last play (which was a good play).

Peter Carey - 3 points for Siena

Taylor - 2 points for James Madison

Quadir - 0 points & 4 rebounds for McNeese

My point with this is these are not the types of players UConn would have on its roster. Jyare Davis? Maybe. Not sure he'd crack the roster, but his hustle, competiveness, & IQ is.

If Red can fix the help side defense issues, i.e. Freeman 'being in lala land' as the TV commentary said, and we get more strategic on O, we can get the most out of this team.

Totally lost as to what we were trying to do on O. Hope this changes.

We haven’t had an offensive plan in a decade

Programs been in the dumpster since the miracle final four season which is a decade now. Starling will get Red fired and the next guy won't have much to work with but should be better. No difference between us right now and UConn at the end in the aack. ACC kind of sucks outside of puke not that is being terrible isn't the biggest culprit.

People crap on Bell but he's likely going to be one of the last few of guys we see in a Syracuse uniform as a 3 year starter.
If the team doesn't make the tournament during his tenure, it doesn't matter how much he started.

He doesn't hustle to loose balls.

Early in his career, he just stood in a corner and jacked up 3s.

He yaps and jaws instead of letting his play do the talking m

It's annoying to watch. You cannot make people like it.

That said, he does some good & occasionally great things. We don't win without his 18 points, for sure

It was great on that last possession by D1 powerhouse Lemoyne that he paid attention to his opponent (he had been burned on the prior 2-3 possessions by them) and fought over the screen & the LeMoyne point pivot basically handed him the ball.

We're making different points. You're talking about Bell in the micro, I'm talking about Bell in the macro.

With transfers, the portal, and the NBA draft, there aren't many guys we'll see start for more than 2 seasons at best that began their career in Orange. Bell will prove to be a rare bird that way (among others).

Bell has a weird legacy as a 3 year starter and only living Boeheim carry over in the program.

Bell is our best player. Not JJ and not Freeman (yet). Bell had a very nice game. Worked through a slow start and did enough to help the team come back. He’s not a rebounder, but as far as a scoring threat he’s excellent. His continual improvement is awesome over the last 3 years and what I saw him putting the ball on the floor and pulling up for a mid range J, that was fantastic. I’m not sold on our guard play. Freeman will be a stud by January.

Go CUSE

Thank you. The app showed 0 points when I looked at it last night. But, its been wrong before
What app? Is this something that lets you track specific players?

Wow that's a haul. Only thing close that comes to mind is Fair, Fab Melo, Dion, Keita.

Yeah, and Earl & Keith both transferred out, because they were respectively stuck behind Sherm & DC. (Not Hak. Doh!!!)

My vote for our best class ever goes to class of 86:

DC
Stevie
Earl Duncan
Keith Hughes
Matt Roe
You had a throw in, Eric Rodgers at 6-10 in that class. But it was the best class. It's too bad JB's lack of playing more players ended up with Hughes, and Duncan leaving.

It is surprising that the majority of players who transfer out play worse at their new destinations, even after going to a lower level situation.

If I remember correctly:

DC was a Top 2 recruit
Stevie was a Top 10 recruit
Earl was a Top 20 or Top 25 recruit
Hughes was a top 40 or Top 50 player
Roe was not highly ranked.

Earl and Stevie were our California Connection.

As others have said Duncan and Hughes left. Both were solid players elsewhere.

Earl was slated to be starting PG, but he had to sit a year due to Prop 10 or something like that at the time. Some guy named Sherm stepped in and took his job never to return it. Earl was a solid PG, not so much a 2G.

I guess Hughes could not get enough minutes from Triche despite his potential.
