- We competed pretty well today. In fact, this was the fourth ACC game this year that we’ve won by 20 or more points. That’s how many Duke has.

- Two years ago, we had a game like this against North Carolina but never got a chance to see if the momentum would carry over to the next game. Now we have that chance – and this will be a big test of it.

- The first key is to (cue JB), make shot. It energizes our team and we play better on both ends and the other team starts to over-commit to cover people.

- The second key is movement: movement to cover people and not be a pass behind on defense and ball movement on offense to make it harder for the other team to do that.

- Then, after building up a big lead, you need to extend it rather than just defend it. It was big that we came to dominate the second half after dominating the first half. We never let this team off the ropes.

- We crushed a team with four 7 footers on the boards, 52-35. A team using 6 guys out-hustled a team that uses 12 guys for 40 minutes.

- Cole Swider is an example of someone who needs to get off to a good start. One he gets rolling, he can put up some serious numbers. He wound 28 points and 13 rebounds in just 28 minutes. He almost had a double-double at halftime. One more board he’d have been 20/10. Now he’s got to do it with defenders in his face, (and maybe his shorts).

- We aren’t going to lose games where Frank Anselem has 9 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 blocks and a steal. He and Jesse should make a tremendous tandem at center for us next year, if Frank can find some more consistency.

- We also aren’t going to lose games where Chazz Owens gets an alley-oop dunk of Paddy Casey gets subbed out for another walk-on because the game is a rout.

- Symir Torrance made a huge difference in this game. He scored 9 points on 4 for 4 shooting. He has that nice little Sam Jones bank shot going for his. He wound up with 9 assists to one turnover. On the season he’s now got a 77-24 assist to turnover ratio, compared to Joes’ 135-89. They may be our starting backcourt next year with Joe where he really belongs at the ‘2’.

- Jimmy Boeheim didn’t do much in the first half due to foul trouble but he got his numbers in the second half, scoring 12 points on 6 for 9 shooting with 8 rebounds and 2 assists in 22 minutes.

- Buddy had a quite game with 14 points on 5 for 14 shooting, although he hit the target on 6 of 15.

16-16 with 1+ to go.
