The worst 12-1 team in D1 - Incarnate Word

I was browsing some stuff tonight, and I noticed Incarnate Word is now 12-1 in the Southland Conference. I thought that was pretty amazing for a new team in D1.

I'm sure many of you are asking What is an Incarnate Word, or don't give a crap. Just some silly stuff late on a Sunday.

Well, they say our schedule is bad. Their 12 wins includes the following:

Our Lady of the Lake
Huston-Tillotson (Twice)
Open Bible (Twice)
Mcmurry
St. Edwards
Texas A&M International
Southwestern
Northwood University (Twice)
Trinity University (

And yes the sad bracket was included on the ESPN schedule after Trinity U.

Only thing missing on that schedule is Rutgers.

Looks like they aren't eligible for post-season play, so it doesn't surprise me that they are using this season to build the team. I'm guessing their schedule next year will be much tougher.

They'll probably go O-fer in the Southland.

Incarnate Word is just down the street from me. Very similar to LeMoyne...pretty much a local school but offers a solid education.

I did the stats for the Incarnate Word women's basketball team once this year. Definitely does not feel like a D1 place. And to put it into perspective, I work at a D3 school, and two of the teams they have played are in our conference.
