JAB has traditionally done well in these tourneys, because, like the NCAAT, less time to prep for the zone. We will see if that even comes into play.

Can the guys play better? Yes, and you do highlight certain areas. But I am a little leery when the initial problem laid out is on the effort level of the players

This team will get outmuscled and "outworked" because they are finesse players who lack athleticism and are in a defensive system that exposes this issue. They will struggle in areas (like Symir) because of their inherent limitations.

Is that the player's issue or a coaching issue for accumulating those players and putting this system in place for them?

This is not a “try harder” issue.

We have no one to break down the defense off the dribble. And, honestly, even on the pick and roll. This was a major flag on offense with the team construct that everyone could see.

Joe did poorly against pressure because Joe can’t beat pressure at this level.

We need to hit contested jumpers to win games and hope we can figure things out enough on defense to be serviceable.

Our guards are so bad at the top of the zone that we’re basically applying a vice grip to our front line that might be just as bad on the defensive end.

We need to hit contested jumpers, give the ball more to Buddy, hope Jesse doesn’t get into foul trouble and score off scramble plays.

I can’t believe im saying this but the VCU loss was more concerning to me than Colgate. VCU should have played right into the hands of our guys hitting enough shots to grind out a win bc their offense was bad. I dunno. I don’t need two more games.
