It popped up in my timeline that two years ago it was announced on 9/13. We always looked forward to that. You pretty much knew what your next six months looked like. Now, who knows.

Yup. At least those hopefully happen at some point.

I will say that I’m being told a December start is most likely as of now and possibly January

SMH We can play football in Sept but we have to wait for basketball until January. I am as tolerant of our situation with the virus. If we didn't play, I would understand. But I don't understand why we can play football in Nov but not hoop.

Because most of the non-conference teams on the schedule do their COVID testing once a month?

If that is the case, shame on them. I wouldn't play them at that point either. But I find it hard to believe that those schools don't care about the welfare of their kids.

Yup. They need to be all in or all out. Obviously the NCAA is not taking ownership.

more games more travel all the elements that football doesn’t have

I was thinking more of bubbles like Mohegan Sun. Which would and will be frustrating to me. To have games so close that I can't go to.

Can someone explain to me what’s going to change between Thanksgiving and January that warrants pushing the season back further than late November when classes end?

I am guessing the plan being discussed is to do away with OOC games and only play conference games, where everyone has the same testing and precautions in place. Only need to start the season in January if that is the case.

There might also be concern about starting the schedule in early November, when the students are still on campus and things are getting colder. That might be a peak time for COVID on college campuses.

Gonna to guess there is a school of thought that they should at least wait until after classes end for the fall semester, just before Thanksgiving, before starting to play games. As far as I know, all ACC schools are playing to end in person classes before Thanksgiving.

If they are going to have OOC games before Thanksgiving, we are probably looking at mini bubbles, maybe played at casinos.

I think there is a very real chance most or all campuses will do away with in person classes for the spring semester. Just my opinion...I am expecting COVID to spike up when it starts getting colder.

If the regular students are sent home, it should reduce the chances the players who remain on campus will get COVID significantly.

Before any games can be scheduled, the NCAA has to decide when the season will start.

So it's on the NCAA to force schools to compete?
Not about competition but about testing. Why would anyone expect a school who tests weekly to play a school that tests once a month. If Cuse is expected to play OOC games then the NCAA needs to set guidelines. If its ACC only then the conference folks need consistency.

So is it fair for schools that are virtual to still field sports teams. I know it's happening, but besides for $$$ reasons, why is it happening. I think your above comments are dead on.

Do you think these tiny schools can afford to test their players every day? Every week? Their programs aren't really making money anyways.

They’ll make that much less $ if they don’t play their buy games against teams like Syracuse.

The small schools are screwed either way.
