We have been through hell for 25 years, had 8ish years of quality in 35 years, we don't need to be humbled, by 'peer' programs.

But, humbled we were.

Not much to say, 5 interceptions!!!! WTAF?

Big boyed at every skill position & on the line.

Decades of losing to Pitt.

Coach calling runs up the middle like we are the 1960 Packers.

Just wanted to say WE DO NOT NEED THIS.

Make it stop Fran or get to skipping.

If he can sell playing time, and we suffer through 4-8 next year for 8-4 after that & real promise of 10 wins in year 3, fine. But, we've been at this for 25ish years.

DG sucks.

If Frans recruits majority dip into the 2-star range, it's over, because he is not coaching them up.

3 years or pitchforks.

7 games and already 2 WTH losses

This is why it is critical they get to 8 wins. Fran and his staff were assembled because they can recruit. The player development and coaching will be a work in progress we can tolerate as long as we see marked improvement in the talent.

Amazing that we effectively reset the deck last night from a 5-1 undervalued team with a tier 1 portal QB to a bad team finding new and unbelievable ways to lose miserably.

The implosion of our offense was so comprehensive last night that our new reality is we're a poor team with a bad FCS caliber O-Line that can't run the ball at all.

Our tier 1 portal QB that has been very good and packed the stats on passing efficiency up to this game but laid a complete egg last night. His rep billed as a big game flopper by OSU fans coming into the season came home to roost in a resounding and frankly, unbelievable display last night. Not all his fault, of course. It's hard to pass effectively when you're getting about 1 second to do something on every play before the line collapses.

It wasn't just a loss.

It was a national embarrassment.

The worry:

It was the kind of loss that drives the end-of-season skid / culture of losing we're unfortunately used to witnessing and that Fran insisted he was changing.

Next game will be a BIG litmus test for Fran and this team.

We know how this season would end if Grandpa was still in charge.

100%. This is the kind of loss that can lose a locker room

is what it is. Bottom line we had 2 wins (Tech and UNLV) which we would have most certainly lost in past seasons. Stanford was literally a buzzer beater loss. Given the fact that one year ago we were basically dead as a program and all of the good stuff that has happened in the past season I am pleased. Its a progression and I have no doubts that once we get into year 2-3-4 of this era we will have the players to really compete. Just get some oline help in here as that is the biggest glaring weakness.

For those of us who thought we were going 11-1 and to the playoff that was laughable. I said if this team can go 8-4 it was a home run season. That is still well within the realm of possibility.

If you had told me after the bowl game last year all that has happened and we would be 5-2 I would have gotten on my hands and knees thanking god.

No need to pile on. It was a stinker of a performance. It happens

If we can only expect an 8-4 season with the most talented roster we’ve had in decades, led by a top 5 QB in the country heading into this game then there are problems.

Well look at the state of the country/our team

Who says this is the most talented roster? On paper maybe but i still say the camping world bowl team was better. The oline certainly isnt what it was in 2018 thats for damn sure. Without an oline its all a crapshoot. I see it with the Giants weekly

And is mccord really a top 5 qb? I would say top 15ish at best. Brand new staff, brand new everything. The problem is everyone wants to win now. Immediately. Nobody has any patience anymore. I actually was getting texts last night to fire FB. I mean give me an ef fing break.

I for one am willing to give this a couple more years to see how this plays out. I mean we have a top 30ish recruiting class next season coming in.

Be patient

Beat VT at home and all feels right again. Lose and it's yet another hot start late swoon. We've seen so many, we shouldn't be shocked. UConn could end up being our salvage a crappy bowl game opponent. But hopefully not, turn this around next week please.

Pitt just owns us. It sucks, but they do. We managed to kick them while they were down last year. But Narduzzi had this one circled. Fran is a recruiting threat and he got his team ready to make a statement against our offense.

The issue isn't losing this game.

A competitive loss was what I was expecting if we're being honest.

It's how we lost.

It matters.

The offense was strip-eaze dumpster fire.

We got punched in the mouth didn't or couldn't compete.

This is NOT the most talented roster we've had in decades. Just because you keep saying it doesn't make it so. The OL is not good. The D is avg at best. Chestnut/Wax are good players but they aren't 1st or 2nd day draft picks. Sat afternoon or undrafted FAs. Last night was a big bologna burp for sure. But some were expecting way too much out of a portal mashed squad under a first year coach without a cohesive OL.

Didnt say we did compete or whatever. It was a total nightmare of a game. It happens. I am more curious/worried how we come out next week to be honest with you. If this is a pattern that continues then i will be concerned. Right now its one game. Win next week and noone remembers this

I would like to state the obvious,The offensive line is terrible ! Kyle is forced into making difficult throws just to keep us going. If he doesn’t make these throws we wouldn’t be competitive . We are still young at receiver and they struggle with aggressive secondary’s. There is a fine line when it comes to getting open! They’ve definitely improved, but they aren’t quite there. If we could run the ball that would make everything that much better. Our offensive line is our biggest problem.

I do think the national TV embarrassment stuff is a little overwrought. There are blowouts all the time, no one remembers anything, nothing matters that much

Great points.
I was one of those fools as I'm prone to daydreaming.
I'll remain unforgiving about the manner of this loss, but was happy to see 5-2 this morning.

Agree. Thurs night game up against a big NFL matchup. That game was the equivalent of Dodgson from Jurassic Park.

THE QB play has hidden the bad Oline play until last night. How he found away to get the ball off for almost 350 shows something.

We don't have a #1 WR.

We look slow all over the field.

Trust me i daydream as well. The loss sucked big time. I just have way more faith and hope going forward than i did with any of the previous 5 coaching staffs

With a first time head coach? And our talent does not include the trenches, especially on the offensive side, the most important thing to winning football games. Our talent is very good at the skill positions and our defense has some good pieces. That’s it.

It's funny when people say "everyone was watching".

No, they weren't. Thursday night college football is a shell of what it was 20 years ago. Very few people aside from Pitt and Cuse fans were watching last night. Football fans were streaming Vikings-Rams on Amazon.

And yeah, teams get annihilated every week and no one cares. Like, Nebraska got demolished last week by Indiana. People see the score, and move on with their lives.

For better or worse, no one cares about a 41-13 loss to Pitt other than us.

My fear is that the teams we still have to play will just repeat the same formula with at least moderate success. I don’t know that we have an answer because the OL is as terrible as I expected it to be based on the players and the coach we brought it. As a result, we can’t run the ball either. Even throwing screens, they were poorly run, many of them and did nothing to relieve the pressure. We threw a screen and there were still at least 2 defenders and 1 blocker who whiffed on the block half the time.
