MD1 Analysis:
***************

Nine conferences have an AQ and there are Eight At-Large. Five of the At-large are a
lock: Duke, North Carolina,Maryland, Notre Dame and Virginia. Contenders for the
remaining three at-large are:

(a) Syracuse,
(b) Big-Ten runner-up (Maryland or Rutgers) *
(c) Big-East runner-up (Denver or Georgetown) *
(d) Patriot runner-up (Army or Lehigh) *
* if neither of those teams win their AQ, then there is probably only one of those teams
getting in.

(e) Other long-shot at-large bids could go to: Drexel, Monmouth, Delaware and Stony Brook,
Albany and LIU but highly unlikely.

Syracuse has high rankings in RPI and SOS and despite its record, would probably be in. However
in this pandemic year, the committee may not adhere to RPI and SOS rankings because of the lack of
inter-conference play. Furthermore, it is unlikely the ACC will get all five teams in whereas
most other conferences will only get one invitation.
