As some of you/all of you know our season opens up this year with last years national champion the Virginia Cavaliers. This game will tip off at "The Dome" on Wednesday, November 6th at 9 pm. Therefore, all of you have until Wednesday, November 6th at 12 noon to get your entries in.

The IGGY Committee realizes that a lot of you will wait until the our two exhibition games are over before making your entries because, as you know, those exhibition games will tell you everything you need to know about how the season plays out.

Things to know about Jim Boeheim's 44th season:
20 ACC games featuring home games vs Virginia, Duke and UNC.
No regular season games in North Carolina but games at home vs all four of the NC schools. What in the name of Wegman's is going on.
Senior night on a Saturday night vs a top ten team (UNC) in a year where we have no seniors on the roster, although technically Eli is in his 4th year and could go through the ceremonies (Hint, hint. Lots of speculation).
Boeheim vs Boeheim for the 3rd year which takes place three days after JAB turns 75 years old
Former Cuse QB Greg Paulus coming back to the Dome as an Asst Coach with Niagara.
And last but not least, Cuse vs Patrick Ewing (POTFH).

So without further ado here are your IGGY AWARD categories for our 12th year. I see this being a big year for a lot of entries so good luck to all.

1) Regular season record. There are 31 regular season games.
2) ACC regular season record. There are 20 ACC games.
3) ACC Tournament record. The most we could play is five games and depending on our seed, we could max out at three or five games. Or, of course, we could bomb out at one game.
4) Post-season record (and notate if NCAA, NIT, CBI or CollegeInsider.com). Up to six games in the NCAA (play in game not counted in IGGY world).
5) Leading scorer and how many points per game
6) Leading rebounder and how many rebounds per game.
7) Player with most minutes per game and how many.
8) Leading freshman scorer and points per game.
9) TIEBREAKER-How many threes will Buddy Boeheim have this season?

And, if anyone wants to revisit last season's results, feel free to read below. There was a lot of optimism and a disappointing end to the season but congrats again to the IGGY winners.

The IGGY committee has woken after a 48 hour bender/recovery period after a tough first round defeat to the Baylor Bears. I'm not sure if the NCAA actually calls it the first round or the second round but we all know it's the first round so screw you NCAA.

We all know this season had a lot of optimism. But we also know that as Cuse fans we don't always get to enjoy the finest things in the blue blood basketball world. No need to recap FH's preseason injury and/or his post season ban. No need to recap how well that JC played in Frank's absence in NYC and then depending on who you listen to was either given or not given an opportunity after that. No need to recap how some players seemed to regress instead of getting better. No need to recap how a top recruit from less than 100 miles away is going to play over 2000 miles away for the guy who everyone loves and should be the head coach on this hill. (Editor's note: as the IGGY committee was planning it's recap, it was not planning it to be as depressing as it is so far but it kinds of sums up this season). Who wants to talk about how Syracuse had a winning season for the 50th straight year? Who wants to talk about how Buddy seemed to exceed expectations. Oh, you want to talk about the Baylor game. That wasn't his fault. Who wants to talk about Elijah Hughes. The committee feels he had a solid season. Tyus Battle? Yes, he was chosen as a preseason 1st team AA. Pretty lofty goals but we wouldn't have won 10 fricken games without him.

OK, that's all old news. Let's talk about what everyone is here for. The 11th ANNUAL IGGY WINNERS!!!

REGULAR SEASON RECORD (19-12)
So we all had a lot of optimism this season. So no one chose 19-12. No one even chose 20-11. The IGGY Committee had to dig further. 21-10. Yessss!!!!! We had two people pick that. Funk Doc and cocuse. Had to go to the tiebreaker being Buddy's made threes (47) and with that the IGGY Committee is proud to announce the first IGGY winner of the evening is Funk Doc. Congrats!!!! (EDITOR'S NOTE: The IGGY Committee Audit Department did not double check their answers before publicly announcing the results and this caused a few problems.) We also had OrangeYaGladi who also chose 21-10 with a tie breaking answer of 45. Thus a much closer answer than Funk Doc's 31. However the committee acknowledges the error and will not make Funk Doc return his IGGY but will issue one to OrangeYaGladi instead. Congrats to both!!!

ACC REGULAR SEASON RECORD (10-8)
Did we have anyone pick 10-8. No we did not. How about 11-7? Yes we did. We had four. Tiebreaker again. The IGGY committee is proud to announce the winner is Austin Cuse who picked 51 as his tiebreaker. Funk Doc and cocuse were also finalists again in this category as well as Fly Rodder. (EDITOR'S NOTE: The IGGY Committee was either drunk or showing their oldtimer's disease or both when they tabulated this category.) We actually had three people pick 10-8. They were gdlcuse, OrangeYaGladi and BludOrange. The committee had already awarded one IGGY to Austin Cuse and will not revoke it but now has decided to award the 10-8 people IGGY's as well. (we took a vote and it was a lot closer than you would think). If our audit department was not hanging out with Hunter S. Thompson and we were only handing out one IGGY, it would have been OrangeYaGladi in a narrow 45 to 44 tiebreaker special over BludOrange. However, congrats to the four co-winners.

ACC TOURNAMENT RECORD (1-1)
Ok, so as a fandom, we know we haven't historically done well in the ACCT. And the picks showed that. Actually it was 20 picks, including Funk Doc and cocuse who made their third straight finals. That's awesome in itself. The committee wants to know if you guys are half empty fans or just realists who didn't buy into the hype? So the IGGY committee went back to the tiebreaker again and the IGGY committee found one contestant who picked 46 threes and one who picked 48. The IGGY committee took a vote and decided to award co-winner. So the IGGY committee is proud to announce the 3rd IGGY of the evening goes to both JasonCuse and HastingsCuse.

NCAA TOURNAMENT RECORD (0-1)
Well no controversy this year whether we were going to make the tournament or not. No playing in a play in game in Dayton and worrying if that officially counts as a win or not. Cuse was solid. Cuse was a no brainer. We had everyone back from our Sweet Sixteen team. We beat Duke at Cameron. Sunday comes and we are a eight seed in SLC. Home of that dreaded loss to Butler and Gordie Hayward. (Editor's note: As a Jazz fan I can barely type the words Gordie Hayward as he ruined my July 4th two years ago as I was on vacation in Grand Cayman), OK, we get the Baylor Bears. They are dinged up and we are Syracuse. Oh wait. Our point guard goes Bob Marley on us. That's still ok. Vegas still has us favored. However Baylor went all Virginia on us. What happened to our vaunted 2-3 zone that the announcers still talk about. Well we know what happened to it. So, we go to the predictions. Lots of 6-0's. Some 5-1's and 4-2's. Let's see how many 0 fers. We found one so we don't even have to go to the tiebreaker. The IGGY committee is proud to announce the fourth IGGY of the evening to Rage4Cuse. Congrats.

LEADING SCORER (TYUS BATTLE 17.2 PPG)
We had a lot of people pick Tyus. Righfully so. We had a few Elijah's, a couple Oshea's and I think a Frank sighting. But most fans knew that Tyus would come back with a vengeance. I personally think Tyus had a very good season. Not everyone might agree. He missed a couple games but when he did well, the team did well and vice versa. Anyways, back to the topic on hand. So we had two people pick Tyus at 17.2 (NineOneSeven and Chugg21). The IGGY committee goes to the tiebreaker and is proud to announce the next IGGY goes to NineOneSeven. Congrats.

LEADING REBOUNDER (OSHEA BRISSETT 7.5 RBG)
Again, no surprise that Oshea led this category. We had a couple Chukwu's selections and I think one Hughes but it was all Brissett and in a big way. A couple thought double figures and a ton of eights and nines. Well, Oshea didn't get there but 7.5 is solid. So no one picked 7.5 but we did have a 7.6, so the next IGGY is awarded to KaiserUEO who made the last predictions right under the wire. No truth to the rumor that he sought out Mike Francesa's advice on this one. Congrats.

MINUTES PER GAME (TYUS BATTLE 36.3)
Again, no surprise. We knew it would be less than last year because of all of our guard depth we had this year. We could go five deep just at the guard position. I think people believed that JAB would actually go deep with this roster. Anyways, I digress. We had a 36.3 so the IGGY Committee is proud to announce that the next IGGY is awarded to pfister1. Congrats

DUKE AT SYRACUSE (FINAL-DUKE 75-CUSE 65)
We beat them at Cameron. Zion was out for the rematch. We were all feeling pretty optimistic even though it was Duke. And we actually played well for a while. But in the end, Duke had too much Barrett and O'Connell for us and we fell by ten. We had nine people who picked Duke to win. None predicted the final score so the IGGY Committee went scrambling on this one. We did find one person who predicted Duke to win by ten so the IGGY committee decided he should be the winner.. So with his second IGGY of the evening, the committee is proud to announce that HastingsCuse is the winner. Congrats.

TIEBREAKER (BUDDY BOEHEIM 47 THREES MADE)
So this was supposed to be only a tiebreaker category and there was not going to be a IGGY awarded but the IGGY committee found an old dusty one underneath the Funk and Wagnall's porch once we realized that someone picked 47 on the nose (not a picked nose BTW). So the IGGY committee decide to award a bonus. With a prediction of 47, the IGGY committee is proud to award the final IGGY to Seng85. Congrats.

Thanks for all the people who put their money where their mouth was. Obviously not a great successful season but it once again got us through the winter. Hopefully we have more people enter next season to earn your chance for the 12th ANNUAL IGGY. It's going to be special. Thanks everyone. BE LOUD. BE PROUD. BE ORANGE!!!

I think it is mostly going to be the iron 5 starters playing, along with Marek and Brycen. Jon Bol and Joe will play in all games but not play quality minutes all the time. And yes, that means that Marek is going to play a few mintes at center most games.
