1] And I can't overstate this enough, but Vandy is going to be the huge vogue pick this season as a function of their win over Kentucky. Right, wrong, or indifferent. I don't mean this observation as an indictment of Vanderbilt, a prediction of how far they'll advance, or even an assessment of how we match up with them. Reminds me a lot of when we won the BET in 2005, and became the popular pick to win the big enchilada.

2] Several of the ESPN talking heads had all four 1 seeds advancing to the final four. NFW. Almost never happens.

Love our half of the bracket. No easy paths to the final four.

It's go time.

Let's Go Orange!!!

Vandy and FSU are the rage picks. Good I hope everyone picks them.

Here are a couple of more:

No true blood blood programs in our bracket
Many classic underachieving teams in the NCAA's

Yep. People tend to get caught up in what they witnessed this weekend. Quite often those conference tournament winners lay an egg because they spent it all to win their tournaments.

How were the tickets?

Most people don't pick all 4 teams right, that's true. Doesn't mean you're more likely to do so if you pick other seed combinations.

I love that we have two high seeds in our bracket that got bumped up to higher spots than expected due to their conference tournament performance. I feel that often teams that reach to win their conference championships are usually overseeded and underachieve (vs their seed) in the tournament.

I have no stats to back that up of course -- and UCONN is definitely the exception, not the rule.

It worked out well. Thanks again for your help. My son did not sit in that seat because there was one seat where I was sitting (behind the Cinci bench) that was open the entire time. Did your dad make it to the game?

He did not. Unfortunately, he contracted food poisoning and was in no condition to head into NYC on Saturday. Maybe that was for the best--I know he got even sicker after watching the team's performance.

But glad things were able to work out. Sorry you weren't able to catch a better game.

I think UConn takes out the Wildcats in round 2.

Calipari cannot be happy with that seeding. He can throw out any coach speak he wants. UConn has the coaching and the horses to beat them.

Good post. Honestly--since when is Cal a good game coach?

Sorry to hear that. Yeah he told me it came upon him suddenly with no warning. Hopefully he feels better soon.

After UCONN, I think UK has a pretty decent draw for them but they definately have to be thinking What they did to deserve UCONN in round 2.

Why does the worst 1 seed have the easiest bracket? MSU's bracket is a joke.

Many of the lower seeded conference tourney teams throw the Kitchen sink at the top seeds, & they are sometimes successful. Obviously, they can do the same in the Big Dance, but so can the higher seeds.

Every team knows they have to leave it all out on the floor, because you can't come back if you lose...

I haven't seen the full ranking yet if it has been posted, but the chair even said missouri was the lowest rated #2 seed.

That may be what he said but there is no way Duke is a better club than Mizzou.

Yea, I dont mind having OSU as our 2 seed. Id rather have them over Kansas or Mizzou.

I agree. Duke with Kentucky seemed fine to me and the what I would have expected. Surprised me when he said Missouri was actually the last #2 seed. Said they put Missouri there based on location.

I don't understand how they can rank the Big 10 as the best conference. The Big 12 has 3 very dangerous teams...

Vandy has screwed my brackets for years...they always get upset. I expect the same this year or they at least hold serve and go out in the 4-5.

Yeah, Vandy is the new Temple for me. Temple used to always screw up my brackets back when they were consistently competitive under Cheney.

According to the TIP sheet that Mike and Mike were discussing this morning, more than 2 #1 seeds making the final four has happened only twice in the past 23 years.

That's what I was thinking when the ESPN folks were making their final four picks, and a couple of them had all four #1 seeds advancing. Very improbable.

BTW, congrats on the Bonnie's making the tourney!
