Here are the leading minutes played and their heights...

33.1 6'1
31.9 6'1
29.3 6'4
28.9 6'3
25.0 6'4
12.8 6'4
10.0 6'2
9.4 6'8

Which means that 180 of their minutes (90%) are played by guys smaller than CJ. Send it in the Fab down low and let's rebound. 85% of their minutes are played by guys smaller than Triche...

Agree. But sometimes tiny is tough, stripping rebounds and loose ball from the big guys. But you're right. They will want to half-court us, and they shouldn't be able to because of the size advantage.

I just worry about that Dickey kid. White kid that can drain threes. I hope he doenst have a career game vs us.

... and they shoot poorly from 3 ... and they turnover the ball a lot ...

If we struggle against this team then it will be because we fell asleep on the court.

If we struggle against this team, we might just want to sell our Boston and NO tickets...because even if we make it to Boston in ain't likely to be pretty.

Syracuse needs to come out focused from the start and beat this team like a freaking drum. No excuses, just lay it out on the court for the next 6 games or as many as they are fortunate enough to play. Give supreme effort and we really can't complain whatever the results.

Have people no memory? These are the types of games that gives our bigs fits. I doubt if melo plays much in this game at all. we will probably go with a smaller lineup..with dirty, cj, and Joseph manning the front line..and even then we will tower over them.

I'll disagree with you and say that Fab will have a career high in blocks.

Ugh the proverbial white shooter who always seem to bury SU. Indiana State last year seemed to have a team full of them and we did pretty well but I can understand the concern based on our history.

This could be Dirty's breakout game, he should be able to shoot over anyone at will, just hope hes actually makign a few for a change.

There's no need to adjust our lineup to match theirs. We should impose our physical will and run 6'8+ guys at them all day.

We have no choice but to run 6'8" guys at them all day. Who else we got??

100 percent agree.. let them try and go into the lane.. we can extend the zone and let them miss shot after shot. If they try to attack the glass we will get lots of runouts.. if they dont they will shoot 20 percent. Only chance they hang is if they shoot over 50% the whole game.

Sounds like the type of team that fair should get back on track against. He should be back to full strength after his illness and has stuggled a little lately getting a lot of shots blocked by bigger forwards. I expect a big game from him.

looking at some of the minor Pomeroy statistics:

their average height of 75.1 inches is 330th out of 345 Division 1 teams . . . their "effective height" is 345th out of 345.

while they are short, they are experienced - their 2.41 years average is 11th best in the nation. And, they are "pesky." They generate a fair amount of turnovers (65th in the nation; 50th in steals). More than the turnovers, though, is the fouls that they draw. they are 3rd in the nation in ratio of free throw attempts to field goal attempts - 48.5%, nearly 1 to 1. And, when they get to the line, they knock them down - 77.2% as a a team, sixth best in the nation. Put that together and you get over 26% of their points from the free throw line - 2nd best in the nation.

all they need to do is hold the ball up as soon as they grab the rebound. no need to bring the ball down to your waist; keep the ball up, go up strong. I always remember UConn winning these first round games by 40 or 50 while they were a top 2-3 seed. I want to do that.

Memo to KJ: Do not put the ball on the floor and try to drive from the beyond the 3 point arc all the way to the hoop in this game. Instead take that 6'3" guy that will be defending you down into the paint and post up instead.

Funny that we are known as being an exceptionally 'long' team ... and we are facing the shortest team in division 1.

Again, something that should be a huge advantage for us playing a zone with players 4-6 inches taller than them. We shouldn't have to even move much, just let them run into us and block the shot. Every facet of this game plays to our advantage.

"Effective Height" -- Never heard that term used before. Where are these rankings of height and effective height for NCAA teams?

Ugh you can allready see him trying this, between him and Fab not sure who is gonna end up getting stripped more.

Amen and hallelujah to that one. It is that move (or inability to do it without turning it over about half the time) that really provides me with a lot of doubt concerning his NBA potential. He doesn't have a consistent enough outside jumper and no way is he going to make a living posting guys up in the NBA. What does that leave? I don't mean to bash on KJ, 'cause I really like him and will be pulling for him in the NBA. However, I'm just perplexed as to how he can be an effective player in the NBA when he doesn't even bring it consistently in College. I REALLY hope that he shines and brings 100% in the tourney, because we will need it!

kenpom.com . . . however, those data are all on the subscription side of the paywall

Cinci's 4 guard look absolutely destroyed us with sharp and decisive passing. They had us on a string for an entire half. KJo was so lost, he started just wandering to the center of the court, forgetting about his corner. These guys aren't as talented or big...but, if they watch that tape, they can easily see the poor defensive tendancies of Scoop and KJo on display. You can exploit them.
