I imagine it's part of their growing pains replacing a guy who coached there for almost 30 years.

I suspect the next two season will determine if hiring Fuente was a disaster - their record is trending in that direction:

2016: 10-4
2017: 9-4
2018: 6-7

It also looks like VT actually plays one Top 25 ranked P5 program annually; perhaps another byproduct of Beamer's retirement.

exactly. Dungey was amazing, but he was not a classic Dino QB, Eric's running skills needed to be unleashed so we could win, but Tommy is the prototype for this offense. We just need the Oline to do it's job for him

In all seriousness though, if UVA doesn't win the Coastal next year they likely never will. VT a mess, Miami almost as bad a mess, Pitt losing a lot of key contributors, GT and UNC total rebuilds. The stars are aligning for the Cavaliers. Can they handle the pressure of being the odds-on favorites?
