Going for week one weekend of the tournament to watch at the sports book. Always been intrigued by the idea of that but never done it.
Has anyone been during tourney time?
I can’t wait to people watch

First weekend of March Madness in Vegas is definitely on my bucket list. I work with a Villanova fan that does it every year. He likes the watching and gambling set-up at Caesar's but he's also in his late 50s. May not be hip enough for every one.

Man, this is on my list for sure.
Not sure if you do facebook, but there is a group "march madness in Las vegas" that is full of diehards that go every year. Tons of solid info.

Here's a link to their 2018 reviews of each venue that has something going on

Well, that didn't work. If you do have FB, go to their group, and the very first post from dude named Barry, is the FAQs. Should have everything you need. Reviews are towards the bottom.

Ha ya I don’t but I’ll look it up. My buddy who is a “client service rep” at MGM said it’s a complete shtshow
Can’t wait

There are a couple hotels that do huge parties in their ballrooms with open bars and food for a set fee. I have always found that the sports books are so crowded on that weekend it can be a bit too much to handle. Fun for sure but gotta find the right spots.

I was in the Wynn last year after beating TCU and a spirited Let's Go Orange chant broke out which was very cool. About two days is all I can handle but it's a ton of fun

I’m staying at Mandalay but not sure where to hit up, will be researching later.

I think the Aria Casino has a big party in their ballroom and is where we watched the games on Saturday. I think many casinos have something like this other than just the standard sports book.

One thing I've noticed from following that FB site, a lot of these watch parties are either sold out, or sell out fast.

I went there for opening weekend of March Madness for about 5 straight years in my roaring 20s. I loved it. Caesar's sports book is one I recommend on either Thursday or Friday. Put your bets in somewhere else, but go there to watch games. So much energy.

I always loved the random crazy cheers that engulf the place, and you find out that someone hit a layup at the end of the game to lose by 12, when the whole book had them plus 13.

2 years ago stayed at the Westgate, the worlds largest sports book. Obviously planned way in advance, we didn't even make the dance, then lost to Ole Miss, so I didn't get the experience I was planning with us in, but people watching was great. It's a guys trip my friends do every year, I'm like every other or so, when not traveling to the site where we're playing.

Just... wow. I am an early riser and headed down to the sports-book around 4:45-5:00. The level of loser is at epic levels. I made the joke that I wish there was an over under bet for the combined fico/IQ of the room... which I’d bet the farm on the under
Will say it has been fun as hell and the shear number of stumbling drunks by 11:00 is like the beach at Normandy numbers. Reminds me of the opening seen from saving private Ryan. Guys dropping left and right.
Men outnumber women 100-0 essentially
Do recommend however if you can keep yourself together

I wish I had noticed this last week because I did a huge group trip for first weekend from 2014-16 and we all met up at Mandalay Bay. They used to have a good viewing area near their lounge with large projector tvs and every game playing. By 2016 they changed it up and made it weird. It was fun because we'd have up to 20+ people and we'd all come and go throughout the day but there would always be someone from the group in the area. Talk of re-starting the trip next year though probably not at Mandalay.

Ya I mean I’d recommend the experience of watching the tourney somewhere in Vegas , wouldn’t necessarily recommend mandalay to anyone though moving forward.
I use the mgm point B S thing. The clientele in attendance there was not my cup of tea to be honest... but tons of groups and if you plan enough in advance can reserve tables and such. Also caught a vicious head cold there so that was sweet on top of us losing. But the people watching is pretty amazing if you’re into that

Mandalay and Delano have definitely been downgraded on MGM's list of properties. The prices for Delano have gotten insanely cheap for a Vegas suite. So I can see that. I strongly prefer Aria Sky Suites and have stayed there on my last three Vegas trips, but a weekend like that would be prohibitively expensive. But you can always take a walk through Excalibur if you want to feel better about the clientele at Mandalay.
