Still my favorite comeback to any obnoxious Virginia Tech fan (mostly football) is that Virginia Tech is one of 2 teams that are P4 who have never won a single National Championship in any sport.

Vermont soccer just won their first national championship, you should feel bad...

Its not Vermonst first. They have 6 in skiing

The NCAA, while a sanctioned sport, doesn’t count Skiing as one of the national champions, because it’s not technically division 1.

This is because it’s an “all division” sport.

This is Vermont’s first Division 1 national championship

It was an exciting game and a great golden goal.

I asked my son last night where college level soccer would fit if it were in the English football hierarchy, and we agreed it would be very very low. The weak passes and giveaways in the midfield are just maddening. The game is fast paced because few teams can actually control possession.

Can’t wait until SU is back competing for another soccer natty. Hopefully that will be soon. 2022 was awesome.

Vermont is, after all, the real VT...

Redundant.

Not only have they never won a team championship, but none of their teams in any sport has ever been ranked #1 in any poll at any time during any season.

Yikes.

That is almost as sad as their empty national championship trophy case.

I think the Vermont soccer team has as much or more stones than any team I have ever seen. They were behind late in the last three games. And half of their goals this year were in the last 13 minutes or so

My son and I were cheering for Vermont. They were getting peppered by Marshall for about 10 minutes there in the second half. You knew a breakthrough was coming, and it was crappy when it did. But Vermont held strong and played the breakaway game to perfection. They caught Marshall out of position more than once. That play where the Vermont player deeked both the defender and the keeper, but missed because of a fingertip by the keeper was awesome. So close. They made the second breakaway opportunity count, though. Amazing pass and breakout, guy sheds the defender with ease, and then fakes the keeper again. Game over. What a tremendous play to end on.

You described the NC winning goal so eloquently that I had to go find it and watch.

For those that have not seen it, go to about the 8 minute mark on this highlight video.

What a great story. Vermont literally came out of nowhere to win this.

True. College soccer in the USA is surprisingly weak - disappointingly so.
