No chance
UConn twice, Louisville twice (despite their recent troubles), Gtown, and WV. While I'd love to see it happen, I don't think it will.
You people have not been watching the rest of the league very carefully. The 2nd place team in the league is Cincy. Since the big brawl a month ago, they have lost only one game, on a tip-in at the buzzer. Next Monday we play at Cincy. We could easily lose that game. How can you mention Lousiville and not mention Cincy (particularly on the road). Louisville is in 11th place for cryin' out loud, just one freakin' game out of 15th place. And you are worried about them but not Cincy? Hello!
I agree. We really should be ready for a knock down, drag out, bloody fist fight next Monday in Cinci....Hopefully we find some time to play a basketball game too.You people have not been watching the rest of the league very carefully. I hear they play 4 sometimes 5 guards, out of necessity after losing Gates. Interesting to see how we do with that. I would think/hope we would pound the ball early and often, well as long as the whistles allow.Cincinnati also lost a basketball game to a religion this year.
I live here, and there are not a whole lot of people (read none) that think the Bearcats are very good.
Do I think its possible that Dixon and their "random bench guy" - Jaquon Parker go off like 12-17 from deep and take us down? Sure.
I just don't think it is very likely.
Gates has been back for a few games and is playing decently. They do occasionally play 2 bigs at atime but not often...yet. I gotta agree with DNabb, most in Cincy still believe X is still the better team though their paths since the brawl could not be more different. (They're probably right too.) Yes it is possible that Cincy gets hot and plays bombs away. I'm not sure thought hat Cronin is smart enough to coach them to a win. Yes they've won a lto of game but they lost to the Johnnies, at home for goodness sake. I hope it is a good game, me and my family will be there...4 SU fans and my Bearcat grad wife.I hear they play 4 sometimes 5 guards, out of necessity after losing Gates. I think I speak for many of us when I say that I don't really follow anybody ranked lower than us... When you are number one that limits your horizons.
In some ways this is true, I have found any team outside the current top 10 (ie, our competition for the number one overall seed) to be unimportant on my radar. When we are 20th, and I am pissed that 12-19 are ranked ahead of us, I can't tell you who 25-45 are either. In fact, when we are 20th, I can't always tell you who 1-5 are, since we aren't likely to catch them after twenty games.
So, when Duke, UNC, Kansas, Baylor, Kentucky, and every other team who has gotten a first place vote loses, I notice, and I celebrate. But when somebody ranked as low as 10th in the country wins or loses this year, I barely notice, because only one team matters this year.
ONLY ONE TEAM MATTERS THIS YEAR!
An example of how poorly this fan base follows college basketball.
Yikes.
I prefer to think of myself as a Syracusecentric fan of basketball. Seriously, you think other teams matter other than Syracuse? What kind of fan are you?
