read some of the players comments today---the way i saw it,we were out hustled in the first half, did not take them seriously. i believe, that the poor offensive performance in the 1st half was a direct result of the poor defense we played . we did not get out on the shooters at all, sluggish. great second half, intensity was there, but the hokies are not that good. we cannot afford to be arrogant and lazy---.
i saw the stanford game, we will need to contain #33 inside and pressure the guard #6. both good players, but the guard has suspect ball handling skills, and prone to force isues to much--good shooter and hustle.
with as much heat triche gets ---his second half play was outstanding---unsung hero tonite was melo---kept them in the firs half, played with excitement---he is getting better and better.

Agree on Melo. He isn't going to score a whole lot of points, but his defensive presence will be huge for us down the road. I wish we had a real big guy coach--I love Gerry and good for him, but we need someone that can coach up the bigs.

He is challenging and getting off of his feet so much better than he was last year, it is unreal. he was nearly in position to make plays last year, now he has the ability to get to the right spot and to leave his feet. He was huge in blocking shots last night.

why couldn't i have said that??? excellent observation.

Sounds like a recipe for an up-tempo, pressure game plan. This has 2-3 zone is written all over it.
