Syracuse University Women’s Basketball Tour
Give our team an assist—support the 2015 International Tour!

Want to give the Syracuse women’s basketball team a competitive edge? You can—by supporting its 2015 International Tour! An invaluable training experience, the tour challenges our student-athletes to play at high levels of competition against basketball teams from several other countries. This gives incoming freshmen and the returning student-athletes an opportunity to practice together and get more court time with each other—building cohesion before the season starts.

Developing team chemistry...and cultural experience.

The tour will also provide unforgettable cultural opportunities for the team, including visits to Vienna, Bratislava, and Prague. With your help, our student-athletes can tour the famous Schonbrunn Palace and Moser Glass Factory, experience the thrills of the Prater Amusement Park, cruise the Vltava River, and more!

“An international tour is a great experience for our student-athletes to travel the world and compete against high-level competition. It’s also an amazing cultural experience and time of bonding between players and coaches that will be a springboard to our 2015-16 season,” Head Coach Quentin Hillsman says.

Give Syracuse Athletics international exposure!

The tour offers benefits for women’s basketball and the University as a whole, raising awareness of Syracuse internationally among and prospective students, including student-athletes. It even boosts domestic recruiting, since few women’s programs compete abroad.

“This trip poses a perfect opportunity for the team to foster its continued success and thrive in a positive, rewarding, and competitive environment,” says Tom Potter ’74,a supporter of the program. “Furthermore, the ability to travel abroad has far-reaching benefits that will serve these young women long after they’ve graduated from Syracuse University.”

While the full cost of the tour is approximately $100,000, Syracuse Athletics has already raised $75,000! The remaining $25,000 goal will supplement meals and travel expenses for the team.

Give the team an assist and start the 2015-16 season off right—with an experience that will last a lifetime. Support the international tour today!

Their goal is $25,000.00. As of today they have raised $21,917.00.

Women's Basketball Defeats Vienna, 102-29
First of five games on international trip

VIENNA – The Syracuse University women's basketball team opened its international tour with a 102-29 victory against the Vienna Basket Flames on Monday night. Six players scored in double figures for the Orange in its first of five games in Europe.

"It was good," associate head coach Vonn Read stated. "We had a long plane trip over. It was good to get our girls out, run the floor, and be able to do the things we do we are going to try to do this year."

Junior guard Alexis Peterson, a 2015 All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection, led all scorers with 15 points on the night. Freshman forward Jade Phillips registered 13 points, with nine coming on 3-point field goals. Senior guard Brianna Butler also knocked down two from long range en route to a 12-point effort.

Syracuse got off to a hot start against the Basket Flames. Thanks to eight first-quarter points from senior forward Taylor Ford, the Orange led 27-12 after the opening 10 minutes of play.

After scoring 12 points in the first quarter of action, Vienna would struggle to figure out the Syracuse defense. Syracuse would go on to outscore the Basket Flames, 75-17, over the final 30 minutes of play.
