I've always considered it ridiculous as well. Over .500 in conference would be a streak that holds some weight. When you can build in 6-8 cupcakes before some seasons gets going, it doesn't really mean much to me.The .500 thing is so irrelevant. Nobody cares outside of some of our fans. I used to think it was great when it meant we were also a top 25 team. Now it's a shoulder shrug. Does anyone ever mention that K had a losing season?
It matters to me. Frankly, it is one of the only things that is making this season even reasonably relevant in many ways. We're definitely not dancing. The .5 or better record is a reflection of scheduling, not strength. I understand it's a "record" but it is rather meaningless. I hardly ever see announcers introduce us as..."now the Syracuse orange, the team with the longest...". It's certainly not a signature stat.
Right. I see it as a nice cherry on top. "Now the 15th ranked Syracuse Orange. As the season concludes, they are a legitimate final four contender. Can you believe that HOF coach JB has never had a losing record?"The .5 or better record is a reflection of scheduling, not strength. I understand it's a "record" but it is rather meaningless. Does Lunardi track the CBI bubble?
