Interesting interview with the County Exec. That Mayor certainly looks like an idiot in all of this. Not good

The thing I found most interesting about that link to the NYS All State teams for the past season is that Nick Abraham of Utica Notre Dame made 3rd team all state (class C) as a freshman as a placekicker. If the name is familiar, it is because his father Byron was a HS AA RB from Utica who initially went to Notre Dame before gaining his senses and transferring to Syracuse. Bryon is now the Utica ND football head coach.

Remember that name for the future...you don't see someone named to an all state team as a freshman very often.

Byron's Twitter Account

Yeah, not good. It was a pretty forthcoming and candid interview.

I don't know where Keeley gets his conclusion from.

There are a large number of competeing interests. SU might very well be willing to give up the Dome as long as they have right of first refusal on scheduling.

Frees up land in the heart of the academic section of campus, takes away the operating costs and future investment that would have had to be made to keep the Dome up to date.

They would want input on the design and then the only discussion is around lease costs and how to divide up the revenue streams.

Certaintly nails down why that location was picked.

How good a plan could this be if we absolutely have to do it right now? What's with these artificial deadlines for a project of this scope?

NYS had a $1.1B surplus after having received $4.2B from the Fed in stimulus $$$. It is a one-time windfall that Cuomo can spend any way he wants. Joanie spoke with Cuomo about this idea that would produce jobs and stimulate our economy. Their is a stipend which is available to our area that she was trying to secure for us. Sometimes things have to be fast tracked to take advatage of situations like this.

some fast track. the stimulus was years ago.

92 Million People unemployed that's more than the Great Depression.

Economic Impact Analyses related to stadium construction are usually overblown if not downright inaccurate.

More and more teams want stadiums that are part of a larger commercial mixed use area to justify the tax burden placed on the citizens. I don't see how building a stadium will create permanent jobs.

The way I understand it is that the finishing touches are being put on theNYS budget. There is now $200 million available to this area, if we turn it down there are other areas of the state with their hands out, thus the urgency. At what other time will there be that amount of money, nearly half the projected cost of a new arena, that this area can get their hands on?

it's not miner's fault that the state budget is done this last minute. it's not her fault that the money has to be spent right now or else. spending all this state money might put her in a worse spot.

this is like extreme makeover home edition. money magically falls out of the sky to give a fabulous building to someone with no money. before you know it, the people with no money realize they can't afford the free building because it makes their tax situation worse.

lots of people talking to the press about her tone, her lack of embrace like a bunch of bitchy 7th graders. no one talking to the press about what the impact is on her own budget
