Cascade Women's Division I Media Poll: Penn Makes Moves, Louisville Enters, More

The top five remain the same in week 11, as No. 1 Maryland continues to headline the Cascade Women’s Division I Media Poll. No. 3 North Carolina has made the jump back into the top three, sending No. 4 Stony Brook packing down a spot.

No. 7 Penn makes the jump three spots, making a season-high appearance in the poll this week after the Quakers ran past No. 9 (then-No. 7) Princeton, 17-12. Alex Condon tallied eight goals for the second time this season.

No. 18 Louisville enters the Media Poll after a huge win over then-No. 8 Syracuse, 9-8. The Orange fall to No. 10.

Division I Coaches Poll for April 24, 2017

The University of Maryland Terrapins (16-0) continued their dominance of the IWLCA Division I Coaches Poll, as the Terps collected all 20 first-place votes to take the top spot. Florida (14-2), North Carolina (13-2), Stony Brook (14-1), Penn State (14-2), and Princeton (11-3) stayed put in the next five spots. USC (14-3) jumped a spot into the #7 position, and Penn (12-2) leap-frogged Colorado (15-2) and Syracuse (13-5) to land at #8. The back half of the poll saw some shuffling of positions, along with one new entry to the poll: Louisville clocks in at #19 this week. The University of Delaware is receiving votes for the first time in 2017 after beating James Madison (#18) last week.

Most Division I teams are finishing conference play or competing in their conference tournaments this weekend, which means there will be plenty of intriguing match-ups for fans. In the ACC Tournament on Thursday, #15 Boston College faces #13 Notre Dame, North Carolina (#3) squares off with Duke (RV), Syracuse (#10) will play #20 Virginia Tech, and #12 Virginia takes on #19 Louisville. Top-ranked Maryland also visits #14 Northwestern on Thursday for their Big-10 regular season finale.
