Maverik Division I Media Poll: Syracuse New No. 1
It’s Syracuse’s turn atop the Maverik Media Poll.
The Orange, who were No. 6 in the preseason poll, take the top spot in Week 9 after putting together an 8-1 record defined by clutch play in close games.
It is the sixth-straight week the No. 1 team has changed in the Maverik Media Poll. The last team to hold on for back-to-back weeks was Maryland in Weeks 2 and 3. The archives of each week’s poll is on the poll page.
Last week’s No. 1, Penn State, was easily dispatched by Maryland in front of a huge crowd in College Park on Saturday. The Nittany Lions move to 7, while Maryland is third and receiving first-place votes.
Hofstra is the lone unbeaten team in the country and is No. 2. The Pride beat Delaware this weekend and welcomes Drexel next.
The rankings set up one of the biggest games of the weekend, as Albany hosts Maryland on Wednesday in a makeup game from earlier in the season.
