Excellent point. The ends are doing their jobs very well, but it doesn’t mean anything when the QB is escaping pocket and being successful that way.just shows pressure that doesnt keep people in the pocket doesnt really help.
I see it as a team strength, but one that has been largely negated by opposing OCs who (first and foremost) run the ball a ton and then dial up quick passes when they have to throw the ball. It seems that all year, Coleman and Robinson (less so unfortunately) get close to the opposing QB as he is releasing the pass. This is nuts. We should be so much better on D given this stat:
The problem is not causing pressure ...the problem is the QB always finding someone open to throw to in the face of it
Sounds like we need an analytics unit to keep on top of these things. If Ward were transparent, someone inside the program needed to be able to see that and tell him.It seemed like every QB we played knew pre snap where to go with the ball which renders a pass rush useless. Somehow we are the only team that needs an OL to block long enough for our QB to get to his 3rd progression.
