His need of "hey look at me" is fascinating this season. Is there a service that sets up athletes to get paid for trips like these or does he have a connection with Gronk, Mayweather and OBJ?

And if you are going to roll with A-list celebs you may want to tell Daniel Baldwin to move to a different seat.

I wonder this myself. He was with local guy Latavius Murray last night as well. I wonder if he donates to the athlete's charity and in return they come watch a game in the Dome?

He probably is tied in with them in some business fashion. He doesn’t just do it for the “hey look at me” and hires them to hang out. I mean of course it’s an attention grabber and he knows that. But, he isn’t paying for them to be his friends for a day and not talk to them again lol

In my opinion, it's become more of a joke than the product on the court.

Big games vs. Duke, UNC, UVa & ranked opponents -- fine. But rolling out OBJ & these guys for a game vs. unranked Va Tech without students is laughable.

I am pretty sure he can afford private air travel and just sends a jet to pick them up. Maybe talk business etc etc. I'm sure he has an annual budget for airfare (might not even own his own plane but has a jets reserved on a use it or lose it basis) why wouldn't you spend some gas money to hang with a celebrity he probably has a pilot that is salaried and is gonna get paid to just sit there and not fly.

There's an app where you can pay a celebrity $50 or so to say something. It was, of course, abused in short order.

They're are all hired. OBJ looked about as interested in the game as he would be waiting for his number ot be called at the DMV. I think he wasn't allowed to use his phone during the game, because he looked bored af. Lat Murray's been to games with Weitsman before.

"Weitsman said that he is friends with Beckham’s manager, who will attend the game with the wide receiver. Weitsman said that friendship developed with recent trips to Cleveland to support former Syracuse quarterback Eric Dungey, who was signed to Cleveland’s practice squad. He said that Beckham is in the area because he is scheduled to see a specialist in Philadelphia about a sports hernia on Wednesday. Beckham played through the issue this season. The timing of the visit made it convenient for Beckham to catch a game."

I've never considered Syracuse "in the area" of Philly, but fair enough.

Eh it might work if we were winning.

But his elevation to celebrity status has correlated with the programs complete nosedive.

I know he is a contributor to many charities, and other investments into popular individuals businesses. The likelihood of Weitsman who is worth more then OBJ currently just flies him in to hangout for a night and get pictures with him is funny. Of course I don’t fully know the truth I am not buddy buddy with him, but let’s just use our common sense.

Sometimes common sense does not apply.

As someone said above, OBJ looked about as disinterested as you could get.

Well, don't you know that since we have been unable to win in our prior "home away from home" in the Big Apple recently, we are going to start playing those same type games in Philly. ;)

Why do people care who he brings?

Everyone says we need big donors and we finally get one now all people do is complain about him. Literally has zero affect on anything to do with anything and in typical miserable Syracusian fashion people have to belittle someone who has any kind of success.

If the cameras and broadcast wouldn't bring it up every five minutes, it wouldn't be a big deal. And really, I don't care that much. I was just pointing out how fake and tacky it looks on the broadcast. It looks gimmicky af and about as bad as a half-hearted stripe out the dome night or the sing along with the piano man.

"This game is awesome, look at OBJ having a fantastic time!"
Camera pans to him sitting there like a five year old who got caught sneaking cookies.

Sounds like you have a problem with the broadcast then.

It isn’t a big deal. They certainly don’t mention it every 5 minutes like you referenced. It was brought once? Maybe twice?

And Cusefan0307 is 100% right. For years on this board people whined and complained about not having a big donor and the minute we get one they whine and complain. Some people will win the lotto and then whine how much they have to pay in taxes.
