We played Le Moyne a scrappy bunch but we had a look at some pretty good shooting tonight don’t you think?

We definitely have an 8 man rotation this year, 9 if Frank continues to develop.

I didn’t include Sid for now.

Or ever.

He hasn't been able to stay healthy for about 90% of his career.
And now, he's got the one 'bad' knee, which who knows how that'll hold up;
and the one 'good' knee, which he just injured and got surgery on.

At best, he'll be a "break glass in case of emergency" option much later in the season.

So yeah - we've got 8 guys.

With Paddy & Chaz as not-terrible emergency reserves behind that.

Paddy is the type of kid that used to come off the bench for some other teams and kill us. Spike Albrect comes to mind.

Yup. Llvll had a parade of "Random White Guys" come off their bench in the Pitino days.
Marra, Kuric, etc.

90% is a bit high. He played and started in every game his junior season. Foul trouble held him to 24mpg.

It sucks Sidibe can't stay healthy, but Frank is more than athletic enough on the defensive end that we shouldn't have to rely on Jimmy to shift over.

Frank would appear to be foul-prone. The need, I think, for a third player to man the 5 will be fairly common throughout the season.

Right now Paddy is 9
Basketball must run in the blood for Paddy Casey. I am not sure if his father Patrick played ball but his grandfather, former PA Governor Bob Casey and uncle, PA Senator Bob Casey Jr. were supposedly pretty good athletes, especially in hoops.

Bob Sr. starred on the court at Scranton Prep HS. Bob Jr. has said that his late father was considered one of the "five best high school players in the country". Apparently he turned down an offer to sign with the Philadelphia Phillies, but went to Holy Cross on a basketball scholarship when the program was a powerhouse. He was there the same time as future NBA HOFer Bob Cousy.

I tried to find some college stats on Bob Sr. All I found was that he averaged 1.3ppg and 1.2rpg in 16 games of the 1950-51 season and 1.4ppg and 0.9rpg in 19 games of the 1952-53 season. That might be incomplete info. Or maybe he had injuries or trouble cracking a good player rotation. His team made the 1953 Final Four. Later, Bob Jr. was a starter for Scranton Prep and eventually became co-captain. He also went to Holy Cross but I don't think he played basketball there. After college, he spent a year in the Jesuit Volunteer Corps, teaching 5th grade and coaching 8th grade basketball.

According to SU sports info, Paddy's older brother Bobby played 4 seasons of basketball at Williams College. Lotta good hoops genes in the Casey family, to the benefit of Scranton Prep. Paddy might be a nice surprise for SU somewhere along the line.

Wonder if coaches thougt Paddy was better for 4th guard than other options still in portal.

Yes - as a whale donor 25 years from now

I believe they felt he was an option for a 4th guard who would come in and not play many, if any mins, without complaining...could play poss mins in a jame...and wouldn’t be a threat to take mins.

a straight up better player than other options in the portal. Of course not.

i really wish they had gotten 1 more dynamic gaurd to come in as 4th option...c'est la vie...

can they come in for second semester? or has that ship sailed??

Paddy looks like he is peddling insurance while he’s playing.
