who came off the bench against NC and won that game for us in overtime? He looked like a future star with such a promising career ahead of him.

Zero expectations can yield fantastic results. It also speaks to the talent around that team. Even though Dungey made up for some weaknesses that was a solid team. I was excited to see what he brought to the table.

Better question is what happened to the kid who came off the bench vs FSU, which likely is his best game here. The UNC game he was only asked to launch it deep every play. He wasn't asked to do much else. Even then he had a really bad INT which almost lost the game. He also looked lost vs WMU and ND.

The team was better and had the pieces to run a tempo based offense. He had multiple safety valves (Strickland/Neal, Pierce and Custis) to get the ball to and a better offensive line. It's really that simple.

pure conjecture here, but it’s hard to see what you can do better if you think it’s all on the OL and WR.

the offense needs him to take some chances, make plays with a less than perfect pocket, protect himself by throwing the ball on time even if it means an extra int or 2

Even though Syracuse was blown out against Notre Dame, he looked capable. That was just an elite level team. Watch the UNC and FSU games to see the poise he had in the pocket. He's a QB who has a clock that is going off faster because of the pressure he faces. He's not exempt from criticism, but an average OL is going to make a QB a lot better. We saw it in the NFL during Week 1. The Eagles brought in a line that had guys who had taken three combined snaps in their career. The result? Wentz was sacked seven times. Jalen Hurts is going to see the field before the season is up because Carson is going to get hurt.

I want to see them utilizing rollouts to counter the protection. Have to put him the best place to succeed. Putting him under center doesn't do that.

He looked far from "capable" against ND. He was lost...just as lost as he is now and was most of last season. It's a shame but, it's obvious to anyone not wearing orange or Devito colored glasses.

The Notre Dame game told everyone that the key to stopping Devito was to amp up the pressure.

Trish and an improved line and we have an upper half of the ACC QB.

But if my auntie had balls and all that...

The OL isn't going to be good or even average nor will the WRs make the correct reads on hot routes or stop dropping well thrown balls. I think Devitos arm strength hurts us since these WRs are more likely to drop it hte harder the ball is thrown.

Lets see if we look different against GT. If not I think we need to go to Dillon M 2nd half if hes the best of him/Morgan/Summers/PWO from MA and give him the full game against Liberty.

Taj dropping the dime in the end zone against ND was a precursor of what was to follow and the beginning of the end.

He likely caught UNC off guard doing exactly what Dungey wasn't doing that game by launching it deep. Now he wants to do it all the time instead of just getting rid of the ball. The oline isn't good enough to protect him and he's not mobile enough to buy time.
