The bowl game is a preview of next years roster. Thinking we still have a critical need for:

- deep threat WR
- LT

At QB, someone hit the nail on the head. Shrader needs to be utilized as a big component in an option read offense… he’s not who you want sitting back throwing 40 passes.

- settle on a QB and scheme to the QB strengths

Anything else?

Can it be any clearer we need a PUNTER?

Every single spot, if possible.

But yeah, if I had to just pick one: I’d take a WR with some jets that can play.

Would hope/assume our defense will be similar to how it’s been - good enough if you’re offense is good.

Allen looks pretty good. Shrader will hopefully take another step forward.

If I can’t pick “5 stud Olinemen” as a choice and am limited to just one OL….I think a WR would have a bigger impact.

To be fair Adams and Alford are deep threats. They just have to be more consistent. Jones comin back too. I’m not sure we can land a deep threat guy that’s better from the portal. I wouldn’t mind another OL and power RB

As Cil said we have a new SEC punter transfer. So upgrade done. We added a new Center who is a transfer and perhaps our biggest. I think Cruz will play well and will have another year of S&C under his belt. We need another guy with hands. Either WR or TE. Preferably a transfer with some game experience. There are still a few in the portal. Agree with Money we need more of a power back option added. Like a Jarveon Howard. Can run and punish. Again a transfer since we have 2 freshman runners coming in.

If Shrader is the guy going into next season... the biggest thing this roster would upgrade from is him learning pocket presence. He is atrocious when it comes to feel in the pocket. Credit where it is due, he made strides in the passing game this year. For the most part his accuracy and decision making got better this year.

That being said, I am hoping Beck can teach Shrader not to bail in the pocket. By no means is he playing behind Oregon's OL (5 sacks allowed ALL SEASON). But far too often Shrader rolls out into pressure that isn't really there in the pocket. He needs to learn to go through his progressions and check down for 3-5 yards. There is rarely a time in this offense where someone in the flat gets hit after going through 3 reads down field. Often times when I feel that should happen, it results in a 4-7 yard sack. If that stuff can change, next year could be special with what we have returning on defense and some of our young skill players on offense.

Yeah, Shrader has a weird habit of running outside into the defensive end.

Take a step up, broski.

I would say though that he has a significantly better pocket presence than our last starting QB.

So there is that.

Loved the defense yesterday. Cannot be understated how well they played. They seem set even before Gould and Bellamy get here.
Offense moved the ball but still manages to shoot itself in the foot way too much. Since we seem stuck with Shrader how about a fullback and tight end to make run game stronger.

Open QB competition in spring please.

It’s discouraging that we’re talking about a need for pocket presence with Shrader. Is it a regression? Lack of faith in his protection and happy feet after getting overmatched in the second half of the season?

Three are currently three roster spots open. An older RB and adding a traditional slot WR would make the most sense
