There were a couple other times when we were going to face Pitt where some in our fan base got a little over-confident. That usually came after some bad Pitt loses. This is one team we should never get cocky about, having lost 5 straight to them.

The team is ready, I'm ready, are you ready to

BBQ Pitt?

You know it. I realize we're going to lose at some point this year. But if we let Pitt beat us - again, end our season-opening winning steak - again, at home, in a year when we might have our best team in decades and they might have their worst, "disappointed" would not begin to describe my feelings.

I'm not puffing smoke you know where either look below

Andy Katz wrote this today:

Villanova and Pitt both lost on the road Saturday at Cincinnati and Marquette, respectively. But both teams played well enough to win in the final few minutes. They are at the bottom of the standings for the first time under Jay Wright and Jamie Dixon, respectively. There is still enough talent in place to fear these two teams in February and March. To think either will be a walk would be foolish. And to dismiss either team from causing some problems in the Big East tournament would also be a mistake. Neither can make the NCAAs as an at-large, but I have a hunch both will be pests going forward

Ratings ploy

The more I read aobut Pitt, the less I worry about this game. I'm thinking at Cincinnati is the one.

Almost every loss in the Big East this year has been a What loss. (Of course excepting when teams have lost to us as that has largely been the predicted outcome).

I know its been a freak'n long time but I do remember the game when we last beat Pitt at the Pete. Its was real fugly and we played a non characteristic rough and tumble bruising type game where we refused to be denied .. essentially out-toughing them.

Forget about spreads, I don't care if it takes 6 OTs to beat them .. just get this damn gorilla of our backs.

As some of you might know, I go to U of Cincinnati.

Trust me, Cuse should win here handily. Unless Dixon and Kilpatrick get crazy hot from 3, I can't UC keeping it in single digits.

I'll go with 20, but 6 wouldn't stun me. The latter has nothing to do with logic, but with enough life, basketball, and Orange experience to know the possibility of the bizarre can not be completely discounted. Any losses we may get this year could easily be from teams most people think we will beat. I don't want to let Pitt's record make this game less enjoyable to savor by making it a complete "gimme" like a short putt that some people just pick up.

Folks this time Papa was right, I got that strong feeling that things weren't going to be as easy as many would have believed. That 13 point spread had me concerned, how many people took SU & gave the points? Looked like easy money didn't it?
