If we are going to sit him the majority of the game? He's clearly our best player - first half I thought we were just fishing lineups and players - second half I was like What

Yeah, he must be thrilled with playing 19min when he played 28 on a tourney team last yr

He has a slight back issue. Why rush it.

I think Red just wanted to take it slow and Jyare was playing well.

He needs to play 20+ against legit opponents once he’s healthy though.

Clearly our best player??? What in God’s name are you smoking? The guy can’t get 4 inches off the ground. He played like a guy that’s been working more on his enchilada recipe than his game. He shows ZERO ability as a rim protector which is what we needed tonight since NOBODY could stay in front of their LEMOYNE counterpart. Can you tell I’m less than enthused with our team? He looks hurt and being that his backup didn’t play at all, I’m gonna assume he’s hurt too. That’s before our 1st game of the season. An absolutely brutal start to the year.

Sit down for this one-- he isn't a rim protector. He had 5 blocks last year all season. Read that again.

What he is, is a crafty big inside that has pretty good vision and feel. A much, much less talented Zach Randolph, but similar type of game.

He's a burly guy, but he's definitely a bit out of shape right now too. And no, he isn't nor should he be our best player.

LeMoyne ran a really well-designed offense with a ton of screening and ton of movement. They sustained that activity level and movement all game. If your goal is to have one guy follow his man through three screens and then defend him with no help off the dribble when finally gets the ball ... you are going to get a lot of players struggling to stay in front of their man.

Red's defensive system isn't just rudimentary ... it's incredibly predictable. Rooting for Red but we are going to get torched playing that system with these players if we don't adjust add some wrinkles and get these dudes playing as a team quickly.

I understand but if we lose this game we are out of the tourney and that is not being dramatic
He's dealing with an injury and it's Lemoyne, you don't play him extended minutes. You hope that what you have out there is good enough to beat... LeMoyne! It wasn't pretty but they won and you move on. The 2 fouls were not ideal either. Take a breath

Lot of copium in this thread.

He isn’t in shape. He’s not a great player. You have nagging injuries when you aren’t in shape. That’s what happens.

People have been hyping him up way past his actual abilities since we’ve landed him.

He’s fine. He’ll be an ok player.

100% on this. He's not Bill Russell but if you're going to be on the floor as the center of your team, you had better be able to help off your man to, at the very least, challenge the layup attempt of a guard going to the rim.

I'm happy with him and Davis. Our 7-5 center might never play again with his persistent injuries.

Starling is going to get Red fired and we won't see a Red team that doesn't involve JJ getting blown by for 35+ minutes that is the fatal flaw here imo.

what tourney ? The CNY championship. Wow !!

I have videos of Lampkin making it up and down the court in about 2 seconds during a drill from practice a few weeks ago. I can’t post videos bc the files are too big but everyone would be shocked at how quickly he moves. Unfortunately he’s hurt. Not bc he isn’t in shape. He also played some very valuable minutes down the stretch when they needed him

The usual suspect is trying to create a narrative that he is not disciplined and just bag chasing. No chance he got the injury from playing the physical game of basketball right? No. It has to be an injury from being out of shape in the first place. And he is out of shape in the first place because he already got paid and does not care about the team. This level of hatred is honestly insane.

Lampkin has some real offensive skills and is a good passer.
But his physical condition is concerning.
Physically he is reminiscent of the Orange center of 50 years ago:

Davis is by far the better player.
Eddie is a great passer & has potential, but his endurance is questionable. He got in foul trouble & rightfully sat. Boeheim is no longer the coach. Red did a nice job rotating players.

Give me more players like Davis.
