Comments: Syracuse is now 30-3 on plays where we kicked the ball. Louisville had kickoff returns to their 30 and their 27 and our second punt against Connecticut went 35 yards to the Connecticut 30. Louisville drove 70 yards to their only score after the first one, (and had to drive 70 yards). The other two drives didn’t result in scores, so the three ‘losses’ were of minimal importance. When the other has kicked the ball we are 6-11.

We are 30-15 in first down runs, even if Tucker hasn’t really broken one yet. Steady games are, in a way, even more impressive. We are 44-24 on first down overall. Our opponents are 21-20. We are 11-2 on third down runs, areal tribute to our O-line, especially without Elmore.

The cut-down in penalties from 18 to 3 was obviously a favorable development.

Our opponents have yet to attempt a field goal. They’ve scored on a few long plays but have bene unable to sustain drives.

Comments: We’ve kicked off 15 times and punted 4 times. That’s a good trend. People have been talking about our fancy new passing attack but our runs have actually been more consistently effective. We’ve been only 3 for 7 on third down passes. We are 78-42 on first and second down and 11-2 on third down runs, (which means they weren’t third and long). So we haven’t had to attempt too many third down passes or fourth down plays – yet. That’s another tribute to the offensive line.

Hard, fast takeaway is just how many more plays we have the ball vs our opponents. That certainly tells a story by itself but the fact we're also scoring fair amount of 20+ yard TDs in addition to the goal line punch ins to end drives tells an even better one
