Class of 2020 WR Bryce Gowdy (FL) Verbal to Ga Tech

we Really need to give.these kids some money. Insane he needed to leave his family homeless to go.play football

Even if they were allowed to pay or help... When would they start getting money? He isnt at Ga Tech yet. Do you think kids should get signing bonuses? say he gets 10k signing bonus... Would that really have affected anything here?

Robin Williams had plenty of money. He still died by suicide. there are hundreds of cases. Its more of a mental health issue. Not as much of an NCAA pay for play issue IMO.

It’s so much bigger than “just pay the players” though. There’s too much wrong with this story. A family with three school aged children is homeless and bouncing around from car to motel every night to find shelter. The kid isn’t getting the mental health care he should. The mother’s employer isn’t paying her the wages she earned.

As a society, we really should be doing better than this.

I know. But we can’t fix it all. That is one thing that can and should be fixed

Such an emotionally raw video- i don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like it before.
Heartbreaking.

Outstanding post. It is a disgrace.

To an Athlete Dying Young

The time you won your town the race
We chaired you through the market-place;
Man and boy stood cheering by,
And home we brought you shoulder-high.

Today, the road all runners come,
Shoulder-high we bring you home,
And set you at your threshold down,
Townsman of a stiller town.

Smart lad, to slip betimes away
From fields where glory does not stay,
And early though the laurel grows
It withers quicker than the rose.

Eyes the shady night has shut
Cannot see the record cut,
And silence sounds no worse than cheers
After earth has stopped the ears.

Now you will not swell the rout
Of lads that wore their honours out,
Runners whom renown outran
And the name died before the man.

So set, before its echoes fade,
The fleet foot on the sill of shade,
And hold to the low lintel up
The still-defended challenge-cup.

And round that early-laurelled head
Will flock to gaze the strengthless dead,
And find unwithered on its curls
The garland briefer than a girl’s.

Agreed; no one ever judges someone for getting cancer, or tells them they need to just “snap out of it.”

No doubt. You hit the nail on the head in regards to being judged, and the endless ripple effect along with the stigma that comes with it, especially by something embedded in one's being/outside of their control. It's very sad.

I know there are many resources out there for those who have a hard time making it or getting back on their feet, but it is devastating when the people that truly need help can’t get it. This story and video of his heartbreaking.

Geez. Not even sure what to say at this point. This is all so sad.
