This kid was an outfielder in college and the Yankees need a 2nd baseman so like a ton of coaches in other sports they go the conversion route. Rob Ref is at this time a better hitter than Beltran. Why try to force the rectangular peg into a round hole? Make Beltran a coach in the minors. He has experience that would translate well to young kids, including telling the kids that at the end of their career when their body is old and broken there will always be a stupid GM who will give you money and length in a dumb contract provided you best years are good enough to make that GM that if you don't break down your numbers will be satisfactory to justify the new contract. You only need to hope that Brian Cashman is around somewhere ti make this scenario possible or likely. Forget trying to make Refsnder a 2nd base man and put him in the outfield and call him up to play there.
