Signing any FA who has been offered a qualifying contract offer is a losing situation for the Yankees. They need to hope that any of their players in that category get signed by other stupid organizations. The worse thing is if any of the dead wood current players accept the QO and stick around longer. I'm guessing that they might not take that chance and just let the Jobas and Phils leave with no offer on tour table for them. It might be the safest way out for Cashman and the team Overbays and Hafners are included in this strategy. I'm not sure that Mark Reynolds isnt included as well. As a third baseman he is worthless. As a first baseman he has some value defensively. Granderson will in all likelihood give the Yanks an extra draft pick but he would be extremely hard to replace unless Beltran is signed. The Yankees really need for some miracle kid to step into te limelight very soon. Tyler Austin or a Heathcott or some other farm prospect. Its a tough hope at best.ZThe organization needs a spark in interest.:noidea:
