Your Mount Rushmore of Tv shows

I was talking with my mom and mentioned this thread, and she gave me her four and I thought it was worth sharing since I don't think any of them were mentioned (if I missed it, my apologies):

The Andy Griffith Show
Barney Miller
Frasier
Big Bang Theory

I liked all of these, too, and while BBT faded towards the end, it probably deserved strong consideration for my list as well...but I think it suffered from reverse-recency bias (if there is such a thing!).

If I were to add to my list as honorable mention:

Dick Van Dyke Show
Dennis the Menace
Friends
Dukes of Hazzard
Emergency
The Office (first 4 seasons)
Law and Order (episodes with Sam Waterson, Jill Hennessy and Jerry Orbach)
The Wonder Years
Honorable mention

King of queens
Married with Children
Er
Law and order and svu
Criminal minds
Cheers
Dick Van dyke show

Objectively:
Sopranos
60 Minutes
Simpsons
Cheers

Subjectively:
Scooby Doo (re-runs)- Most important show during my childhood
Beverly Hills 90210- Most important show during my adolescence
(tie) Sopranos/The Wire/Breaking Bad/Mad Men - Best show during my lifetime
(tie) Parts Unknown/Stranger Things - Got me in my feelings.

Interesting that you included a cartoon. As I think about shows that would stop my remote today, one would still be Fat Albert. Bill Cosby, although turned out to be a creep, was a TV pioneer and visionary. I Spy was a little before my time but not Fat Albert snd the Cosby kids. Hey, Hey, Hey!!!

I watched some of those repeats not too long before Bill got himself in trouble. There were actually a lot of good life lessons for kids in those shows. Just sad

I Dream of Jeanie (forgive me)
M*A*S*H

The Honeymooners

  1. The Honeymooners
  2. Curb Your Enthusiasm

  4. X-Files

Runners Up:

--Moonlighting
