I don't want to overstate anything

TAMU beat a very good Gonzaga team whose big men would have eaten Coleman alive. He would have fouled out in 10 minutes of play.

Styles make fights!

This is really going to piss the NCAA off. Down three scholarships and JB has this team rocking.
All the more reason for them to deny JB's appeal in total.

At the risk of tooting my own horn (ok, this isn't a risk, it's a total shamesless plug for myself:p:D) I'd like to quote what I said before the season.

"I think that I must be much more optimistic than you all. I think that this team can easily be a 3-5 seed in the tourney and will score a ton this year. I see Gbinije as a competitor for ACC player of the year and a second or third team All American sort of player. Our frontcourt will be fine or even good, with the exception of the 5 spot. I think what we underestimate is how much more important the pg and wings are than the bigs in college hoops. Because of the physical nature of play and the amount that refs let defenses get away with, smaller teams can compete on defense in college. We'll be above average (nationally) on defense and really good on offence. That's a good combination."

This feels about right! Go Cuse!
Gotta say no holes in that so-far. Especially this ; I think what we underestimate is how much more important the pg and wings are than the bigs in college hoops. Jimmy has always been guard oriented. Plus the 3's made that true. In the 70's McGuire said you needed "the Aircraft Carrier", now with the 3 not so much (see Gtown-Nova 85)

Very important game for Coleman today. He did fairly well considering he had a tough frontline coming at him He "ate up minutes" in the middle. Now lets see if his confidence is so that he can take it to another level against the next part of the schedule playing teams who are not named "Texas A&M". We will need him with some of the monsters we will be facing.

He has been making me very happy with the amount of minutes he has earned in playing time. And I know he earned them because Kaleb Joseph sure as hell is earning the minutes he's played so far the majority of the season.

We'll definitely lose to someone we're supposed to beat. But that suggests we might snatch one from someone we're supposed to lose to, as well.

like the last 2 that we weren't supposed to win

At the beginning of the season I felt we were a bubble team. Now, I think we're a solid 4-5 seed caliber team. I fully expect us to lose some games this year when outside shots aren't falling, but there's no reason we shouldn't comfortably make the tournament.

Yeah this is where I'm at right now. We shot something like 48% from 3 this week, that won't keep up, but I think it's clear Lydon and Malachi are ready to contribute right now to a level higher than I expected before the season and Coleman even showed a little this week as well. But during the first half of the Charlotte game I was texting my brother and said I thought it would be a good year if we made the tournament; I think we can move past that as the expectation now.

The one thing that will bother me all year is that for a perimeter oriented team we turn the ball over way too much.
